I use a roll of blue painters tape, on its side, of course, to keep my drinks upright on my console. They won't stay in place if I stomp on it but it is a good short term fix.  :P

Now you've got me thinking.....
Since you're not a smoker, how about some kind of aluminum plate, with a hole in the center - large enough for a coffee cup, that maybe attaches to your ashtray.
Remove the ashtray, hook the plate in and under the opening. Weight of coffee cup cantilevers the back of the plate into a locked position.
Just a thought.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for something like I had in my 73 way back when.

It was a black plastic cup holder that hooked on to the window and hung down inside.
It was the perfect shape too - matched the curve of the upper door pad - and it had a slot so your mug handle could slide in to it.
This was before travel mugs really existed. So, you actually took your regular coffee mug and stuck it in there.

Ive seen those in the walmart autoparts section as well as the airfreshener/neon super tuner lights section at the autoparts stores.

How come no one's mentioning the cup holders built into the glove box door?  You gotta love the '67 Charger.  Four seats, five ashtrays, two cigarette lighters, and no cup holders.

i don't think those "things" would stop a candy bar from sliding into the floor, must of been designed for the soda at the drive-in or something :2thumbs:

I have two of
those exact holders in my jeep, want
me to pull the name off em for ya?

And what's this about coffee?? I might have heard that the space in between the radiator and the grill can hold about 4 six packs or so

Yes please.
I have seen the ones in Wally World and Canadian Tire, but not quite the same as I remember them. The one I had fit so well, it looked like it was designed for the car.

and I heard it was 4 12 packs. Oh, and any size bottle of liquor will snug right in to the fender in front of the doors on a second gen. just wrap 'em in a jacket... So I'm told. :P

TexasStroker

I had always wondered about those low-cast features on some steel glove box doors...I knew it had to be by design bc any parting lines or cast features would have been rectangular, or certainly not TWO distinct circles...I agree though, they wouldn't hold anything aside from being parked at a burger joint or drive in...very nice point there!  Guess early Chargers got them and I know the late A-bodies had them...

That isn't even an option in a 69 Charger with the glovebox hinging up

Fwiw I go without or take a leak-proof bottle of water...I have bought several "leak proof" cups but they always seem to wind up leaking anyway...Had one in the Duster at the last cruise night, picked it up and found water in the seat  :eyes:

My current set-up has the console in place, but I have the "top plate" (around the shifter) off since it won't clear the B&M unit.  There is actually a really nice, deep area between my shifter's console and the rib on the console...right where a saddle is I believe...It is like a chasm down to the floor on either side of the trans tunnel, so I usually can fit the 24oz and smaller water bottles there with no problem...on top of a Maglite :2thumbs:

I use the crotch holder

Dont ya love it when the person sitting next to you goes for a swig of whatever there drinking and ya mash on the throttle

I wouldnt do it with any kind of sugary drink or coffee...just water Ghoste...you dont want to ruin your interior and their clothing.

Ghoste

I wasn't trying to be patronizing.  Actually I was recalling an incident this past summer and I was in Columbus with a buddy and I laid on the throttle to merge into traffic just as he was taking a swig.  Needless to say he spilled lots of sugary drink all over his clothing and my recently refurbished interior.  :o :P

FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

If I ever have anything in any of my cars it's a bottle with a lid. I drop it between me and the console when I'm not taking a drink. One time this summer dad wanted to stop for a coffee so we did. I just wanted to see how he managed to drive a 4-speed car (by himself) with a piping hot cup... ;)

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

FlatbackFanatic

My wife also, or just have a 20 oz. soda in a bottle, and keep the top on.

I was going to go with my brother's plan, but its just not cool. He uses a old running shoe and puts his coffee cup in there and surprisingly it does move.  :shruggy:

Thanks!

That's a bit different than what I had, but the overall shape is pretty darn close.
Mine had solid walls. I like yours better - and it looks like it would hold a bigger cup, too.  :2thumbs:
