Better to undercoat it while you can while the car is apart rather than when everything is installed. I'd say do it, it will pay off later on.

i already suggested you undercoat it...

might i suggest you do the research as to what it is and what it does then decide if you think you need it? :Twocents:

Long time no post.
So I looked at colors then ignored the car and made so much needed money.
I should have about $400-500 by the end of the week, so I called the paint shop and for nice expensive 2 stage paint it is $628.81 for paint reducer and clear coat 2 gallons, and primer is either $80 or $240 a gallon :o
Should I go with cheaper primer? I can not afford $240 a gallon primer.
I really want laquer paint but the stuffs hard as heck to find, should I just find laquer?

And I've thought about selling the car or just putting a cover over it and letting it sit for a few years and getting a 1999 ram 3500 dually 4x4, for about $10,000, monthly paymenst for 2 years about $274, because I'm starting to hunt and I need a truck for that, I'm not sure but I think I'd rather have the truck because, fuel, maintence, and usabilty, of it, also if someones hits it, insurrence and it's all good.
I make over $300 a month steady income so payments are coverd and insurrence will be too, but I doubt I'll be able to keep both, I'm ready to either palnt this project deep and get alot further in or sell it.

If you don't like my post, remmeber I didn't make you read them, and I didn't insult you so please keep your wise :moon: comments to yourself.
Thanks yall.

I think you should sell it.  Try to get all of your money out of it. But if you lose some dough, just chalk it up to experience.

Remember, I'm not a hater. Just an older guy who knows the cost and struggle of putting a nice car together.

Also, if you thought that primer was expensive...then o' boy...you haven't seen nuthin' yet... :Twocents: :Twocents:

A project car is tough!  Just like any other long term projects you will encounter in life.  Remember - It's a project.

If you set high goals and desire a nicely finished product, you won't shortcut quality. Otherwise, its hard for anybody to get excited about the final result.

Troy

I'd sell it. With the money you make you'll have nothing to live on if you keep trying to work on the car. You definitely have a long term project going - whether you plan on a major restoration or even just getting the car into drivable condition. I think I've spent over $5,000 in the last month and some days it's hard to tell where it all went.

I have a 1999 Cummins Ram 3500 4x4 I'm trying to get sell. Oil changes only cost about $100.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Wow, my 05 is only $60 an oil change, how much you looking for out of that truck?
2dr or 4dr? dually or srw? long bed or short bed? standard or auto?

Thanks, the truck already sold, so I have more time to think

miller time

Ok I've been thinking, it's hard to explain but I'm going to test frive the charger and sell it if I dont like it.
If you have question on why or want to talk me out of it call me 772 828 1274, text me before you call.
It's up forsale right now for $12k, since I dont need to sell it.
I have a few good reasons to sell it, they out weigh the ones to keep it, but if I like it I wont sell it.

My bet is he sold the car, fortunately.  I doubt he has the patience for a project car.  He just doesn't know what he wants, and doesn't have the funds to do anything with it.
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

He needs to sell the car. Its a hopeless hack job.  :icon_smile_dissapprove:

I love the positive support :icon_smile_big:
I didnt sell the car I got it painted, and they messed it up so they have to fix their........ mistakes to put it nicely :D
I found new freinds to help me so were not going to do the I dont know thing again, were going to paint it like a rat rod flat black dents and all in in primer so we can work on it as we have time, as tufcat stated it is a hack job it needs ALOT of new panels just from dents and other peoples mistakes, but what are you going to do? :shruggy:
Were taking what we have and running, not a traditional restoration but you can always do it over.

For paint i striped the wholes car of parts brought it to a good shop and paid more then I should have. They painted over dirt and left alot of places unpainted, I gave them minimal prep to do and simple instrutions but all the did was spray it, dirt and all, it was the bottom engine bay and cowel in chevy grey paint. So theyre gotting it back with the motor, tranny, exhaust, gas tank fuel and brake lines reinstalled, so I'm going to drop it off tell them to tape Everything and paint it perfect or they can give me my money back and they dont have to worry about it.

Also I have been doing alot and have had no computer I just got it back yesterday, you dont have to assume the worst just because I havent been on :2thumbs:
