I was playing with Hot Wheels and Woodstock was on the Peanuts cartoon. My dad had a 65 Buick Wildcat with a 455. I remember our cat took a nap in the fan shroud and when dad started the car the 455 never missed a beat  :eek2:

I was 8 and living in St. Clair Shores, MI.     No memories of Woodstock going on.   I was well aware of the moon landings but aside from that...  not much.

40 years later I live in the town that held Woodstock 94,  about 10 miles from Woodstock itself and an hour and change away from Bethel where the original Woodstock was actually held.
I have several friends that went to the original and if anyone ever drives through Woodstock itself,  you would think half the population was stuck in a time warp.

The concept of 3 days of peace and music sounds great...   but humans have a tendency to screw everything up.

I was 3 when Woodstock went down. Brian, I was your neighbor in Roseville, Michigan when you were growing up.  You know, in a neighboring city.  I travel through St. Clair Shores just about everyday.  I'm still stuck here in Roseville.  :smilie_help:

Lived on Ursuline just north of 11 mile.  Went to Greenwood elementary for 1-3.  Ended up in Armada before coming to NY in 82.

If I was still stuck there I could be at the dream cruise today....  bummed.  :bawling:

I was 4 living in Boston.  My mother said she wanted to go, but with my dad being in the military....it was apparently off limits.  We had a '69 Camaro at the time...or my dad did anyway.

The Woodstock Festival may have some relevence to being historical for many reasons, but in all honesty, I am kind of glad I wasn't old enough to go & be a part of what was classified as a huge clusterf**k. I was born in NYC in '62 & saw enough stuff going on in a city that was falling apart, so 3 days of what people have over-glorified as a world changing event doesn't amount to much. Sure, some great things happened at Woodstock, but other things that were far from great also happened. Roads were closed, sound systems & power went out, rain & mud prevailed, garbage & sewage spewed, locals were inconvenienced to the point where they adamantly refused to allow any kind of legal Woodstock reunion concerts for decades. I'm not speaking ill of it because I'm older, I just never liked chaotic outdoor concerts ever since I started going to concerts at the age of 15.

I've always said I'm just old enough to remember Woodstock, even though I was only 3, my younger sister was born that week in 69 & I do have vivid memories of that happening. Now if I could only remember the Grateful Dead's set....(Ive always heard they had a terrible time at Woodstock with the rain and getting shocked etc.)  :Twocents:

I was 21 and living in So. Cal..  I never even knew it was going on until it hit the news.  I guess I was too busy picking up young women in my '68 R/T.   Bob

The entire show basicly was about Jimi Hendrix and his new band Gypsy Suns and Rainbows aka The Band Of Gypsys which was jamming all that summer at a house he rented in Woodstock, everybody who was anybody was there jamming everyday and night,..
An interesting aside is that during this time frame Jimi recorded approx six albums worth of material that was held up by lawsuits brought by Capitol records... The truly amazing fact is in his short three Years on the scean he recorded about 10 albums of original material not including live shows...
Think about that.

Yeah, some of those later song he did with the Band of Gypsys were pretty far out there, makes you wonder how much of what he was on......... :scratchchin:

Last night the History Channel had Woodstock then and now documentary on....it looked pretty crazy and somewhat cool. 2 people died. I guess someone was run over by a tractor but they never said what happened to the other one. Maybe they OD'ed ?
