How the Hell do these work?

Before I use drywall screws to attach the top inside window opening trim can somebody please tell/show me how those stupid clips hold the trim in.  It is the metal boomerang angle trim that lines the inside of the side window openings by the headliner and I am about as frustrated as I can get right now.

Are you talking about the long (3'-5' in length - see photo) aluminium or maybe stainless steel piece that runs up the A-pillar, over the door and qtr glass down to the qtr?  This piece of trim is what the weatherstrip is stuck into.

If so, it has a thin piece of foam glued to it, about 2mm thick to prevent rattle and is held in with 14 screws, about 8-10mm in length.

If not, than maybe this thread will help you.

Take it easy Jet.  It is almost bedtime.

Thnaks man, I needed a shot of reality.  The clips that have pushed to the edge are the ones that hold the inside metal trim to the top of the window molding like in the is picture.  The arrows point to the clips.

By the way, my wife gave me the hug!

There are 6 more smaller clips, 3 for each side of the car, that hold the headliner to the rail above the window.  These are much smaller than the silver ones in the pic.  I don't have any photos handy.  I am going to guess that the silver clips will hold the trim (which I don't know what it looks like) in place.

Maybe best to call it a night.

Big Lebowski

Turn the clips around, unless they were never removed. It's a bitch snaping it back on.

That is one thing I don't recall having much trouble with. It has been a year now though. I am not near the car right now but, don't some screws help hold the trim up along with those clips on at least the front? I can't remember for sure on that.

My clips just popped in place with a firm bump from the palm of my hand. Sorry I know this wasn't much help.

Here is a pic right after I did it to prove it is possible.

Okay I still can't get the damn trim to snap in.  Does anybody have a good close shot of how the cilps sit in the trim?

Sorry, I should have posted yesterday I finally got them to snap in.  What a pain in the ass!  Almost as bad as the little trim tinngys that hold the front upper windshield trim in.
