What kind of oil for the power steering?

Hi All,
I'm the proud new owner of a 1967 Charger. Just discovered that I can't see any oil in the steering pump, probably why the power steering feels a bit funny. I don't have any books yet, and struggling to find info on the web.
Anybody knows what kind of oil is recommended, ATF or other???
Cheers,
Martin

I just use regular power steering fluid in mine.

Thanks, but can you be a be a bit more specific please? My location is northern Sweden, and "regular power steering fluid" might be something else here... ;D

I'm afraid I can't be much more specific than that.  Around here, that's all it says on the label.  There are a few different types and with it being an oil I'm sure that it is the same as something else but I couldn't tell you what the something else is.  Sorry.  :shruggy:

I don't care what is is designed to do,I want to know what it can do.

I have used ATF but I think the stuff marked power steering fluid works better for some reason. Less air bubbles I think.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

Thanks all,
I actually managed to obtain regular power steering fluid, imported from the US!
Will test tomorrow.
