A very common thing to run across with Mopars is finding the wrong broadcast sheet in your car,and mine was no exception. In 2002 I bought an EV2 AAR cuda from Florida and when I got it I searched the whole car for BS's and came up with one from behind the passenger seat back in mint shape, but was'nt for mine it was for a FJ6 4speed AAR about 150 cars off from mine.Is this car still around, crushed, parted, restored?Whatever the case whoever has it sure would love to have its BS.
I registered my car on the various AAR registries and with the info on the sheet I have.Put it also up on moparts this year in the BS section and recently got an Email asking if I did actually have this BS.
Turns out the car is alive, fully restored and resides in Ohio. The owner askes what I would want for it and just as I said in every spot I listed it,free to the owner with proof of ownership! He was very appreciative that I was offering that, sent me pics of the title, vin tag, fender tag,and shots of the car.Said he would reimberse me for the postal charges to express mail it to him,so off it went to be reunited with the car it is supposed to be in.
Feels good to be a part of this hobby when somehing like this happens and you can make someone's day.I jokingly told him I had wished he was calling me as he had mine though!!!!
Couple days ago I get a hand written thank you letter from the guy showing his appreciation  with a couple extra bucks I did not ask for!!!!!
Now I hope someone finds mine!!!!!!

Did the vin # have 300440 in it? Looks just like the car that we had.

I just went and checked the extra one that came with my 69. It's a XP BS, though. Sorry.

THAT would have been a funny story, wouldn't it?

BTW, I do have the BS registered with Chris and it is free to the rightful owner.

Who says there is no such thing as good karma? You just made a nice big deposit in your karma bank. The BS will be found and you'll be re-united!

Congrats on being so cool  :icon_smile_cool: and helping a family member in the tribe of Mopar.

I just feel that it was the right thing to do.I do beleive in karma and actually when I bought my AAR it had its fender tags removed from a buyer that wanted it and knew it was being sold to someone else so decided to take them.5 years later ,searching thru ebay on AAR's ,it turned up!!!!!!!Cost me $53.00!!!!! They/he snipped off the vin number but missed about an 1/8th of the top of the numbers, knew it was mine as besides being the exact car,it was from exactly the same area from florida where I bought it.I get it and sure enough, there are the top of the numbers of my vin still legible!!!!Was a great find.

That's cool you were able to get it back. The black charger that you found was good karma that went your way. Loved looking at pictures of that car when you went and picked it up. :2thumbs:

Nice to see you help someone in the hobby without gouging them.

My '68 Coronet 500 convertible had a sheet in the rear seat from a '68 Coronet R/T convertible. My guess is that the seat came out of a long gone, R/T that was probably parted out many years ago. The seat was recovered, but the sheet looks as though it was never touched. I've posted the sheet on a couple of lost & found forums years ago, but have not been able to locate the owner. I'm offering it for free with proof of ownership as well.

I remember sitting at the computer late one night & stumbling onto a decoder site & became curious. I don't care much about VIN numbers, but I'll be totally honest & admit it would be very cool to own the HP version of a lesser model. I remembered that the rear seat still had the sheet in the springs, so I went up to the attic & flipped over the seat base & carefully removed the sheet. I went back to the computer, read some numbers, & realized that the sheet I was holding was for a R/T & not a 500.

I grabbed the flashlight, headed for the door, & my wife sees me & asks, "Where the heck are you going, & what are you doing with the flashlight this late?"

I told her "I'm going outside to uncover the car & look at the VIN or I won't get any sleep tonight."

Of course the car under the tarp for the last several years was still a 500 & not the R/T I had hoped for.  ::)

haha i've done the same exact thing. i'm not a "numbers guy" in general either, but on rare occasions i have run out at midnight to double check one after i found new info or decodign a wrong build sheet and you get that glimmer of hope you own a hemi car or a daytona..lol

Did you ask him to search inside his bucket seat backs for extra broadcast sheets? If not, you should.  ;)

Cool story and a good man you are. :2thumbs:  I hope you eventually find yours. When I stated restoring my car I found an build sheet where half the ID was missing and it was in terrible shape and no one would ever be able to ID it for any certain vehicle. After I seen it wasn't for my car I had mixed emotions. Then I did find mine and it was in pristine shape with only a spring mark on one corner. I never even looked for mine for the almost 30 years that I had it......I guess i never thought about it  :slap:

If the VIN is partially missing from a sheet, they can be matched up using the vehicle order number.

The registries I know of track those for cross reference.  ;)

I save ripped pieces too, some sheets have partial corners attached from the next sheet. I have not matched any of those up yet, but I am sure it will happen sooner or later.  :icon_smile_big:
