Got word of the selling of a 68 or 69 Road Runner Monday (don't remember what year  :brickwall:), I'm gonna go look at it today when I get home from school.  Could you guys help me determine the value of it? I'll post pictures when I get back from looking at it. He is asking $9k

And I know its not a Charger, and in order to buy the Road Runner I would have to sell my 73 parts Charger and 74 Project Charger...You guys have first dibs on them if I decide to buy...

Definitely pics but if it's decent 9k is a bargain.  My second favorite b body in the world.  69 RR, I've owned a few and I want another one.
I'd have no hesitation giving up those 3rd gens for a 69 RR if it's decent.   :Twocents:

Very nice. I would want to know much more about the condition of the driveline to justify 9k.

Also, rust freaks me out, so I would examine that rust with an expert. Clearly though, it is ready to be taken to the next level. Execellent foundation stock as they say :icon_smile_cool:

I'm out. I don't like 70's too much.  I have little opinion at this point on the 9k except strictly for flip criteria....and it looks like you wouldn't lose any money due to to the options.  In other words is it worth more than 9k right now as it sits and I don't know that answer.  I defer to the experts. ;D

Looks almost exactly like a B7 blue one I could've bought years ago for $4,500 except it was an automatic and rustier. I still kick myself for not buying that car when I had the chance. It was ALL original, except for the mice!

Very nice looking Road Runner and awesome options. Like others said, I'd try and talk him down some - cash in hand - but snag it up if the underside looks as good as what's up top.

Well thanks for the advice everybody! Me and my Dad are going to go look at it tomorrow afternoon. We are gonna take a nice and good look at the underside. I'll have some cash money in hand, and I'm really hoping to share some good news with yunz.

The 70 Roadrunner has the best tail panel over the 68 & 69 it looks like a good deal to me  :yesnod:

Old Moparz

Not a bad looking car based on the photos, but inspecting it in person is the best thing you can do. There are a few things to look for on a '70 that will differ slightly from other B-Body cars.

Check under the rear, leading edge of the trunk lid for rust. Last I looked, that year trunk lid wasn't available & they are hard to find.

Same goes for the hood, look under the front edge as well as the underside bracing where the hinges bolt to. The air grabber hood is available as a repro, but it's almost $1000 for the bare hood. The induction parts are also available, but they add up to a small fortune. Complete originals get listed for as high as $3000 in good shape.

Alright guys this is killing me! My Dad and I went down and gave the car a good once over. It needs: lower quarter patch panels in front of the tires on both sides and behind on the passengers, passenger rocker, fix under the rear window as shown in the pictures above, drivers floor, passenger door doesn't open, drivers door hinges are bad, and the interior smells like MOLD!  He didn't have the key for the trunk so short of ripping out the rear seat...

So my Dad likes what he saw, I had cash in hand, but...The seller said that he had a guy ask him about it in AUGUST :brickwall:  Seriously if he hasn't called you back in three months does he really want it???  Anyways, the seller is gonna call that guy, which pi$$e$ me off quite frankly, but hopefully I'll be receiving a phone call by Wednesday with the words "The car is yours!"

And I have some great news! If the Road Runner is purchased, Dad said he was gonna buy my Chargers off of me! So sorry guys they are off the auction block...

It could be though that he did promise the August guy he'd call him if there is such an August guy.  If that is the case it's refreshing to hear about someone following through on one of those requests for a change.  How many times have we enlisted a promise of call me first only to discover the car was sold to the first person with cash in hand?

Hey, I'm just giving the guy the benfit of the doubt here.  It's Sunday morning, the skies are clear and I'm feeling all Pollyanna-ish so don't be flaming me about the Road Runner seller is a lying turd and I'm a moron.  :nana:

jaak

Did you show him the cash? If not I would go by, show him the money, tell him you are serious about buying, if he still says something about the "Guy in August", I'd just leave and forget about it. You can use your 9K to buy another Mopar. My guess is he is trying to get more $$$$ out of you, like someone said earlier, he's probably gonna say "August Guy" has offered 9500 or 10K, then hoping you are wanting it bad enough to offer 10500 or 11K. Sounds like a jerk...I'd move on.

The seller called him up and he is going to show the car to him on Friday. :brickwall: AG ownes a couple businesses around here so he has some money. I just have to hope that he doesn't like what he sees now. This $hit is pretty stressful, as I'm sure some of you around here know.

Lower patch panels aren't too bad, but I'd be ripping out the rear seat & squeezing in with a flashlight if I were looking at that car.  :Twocents:

Those holes at the lower corners of the rear window have been letting water, dirt, leaves, & maybe even rodents in for a long time. That means a good chance the trunk floor doesn't exist, & that the rear frame rails could be rotting from the inside & you won't see it from underneath.

Whether the August guy exists or not, if you appear too eager to buy the car, or become a pest, you may lose your edge at getting a better price. It happened to me when this guy was badgering me to buy a car once & became obnoxious. He called often asking a lot of questions, which wasn't the problem, but seemed to call me at the wrong time. I was in the middle of dinner, or doing something else when he called. I was polite & answered him, but I think he called everyday that week & it got on my nerves. When it came time to finish the deal I was less inclined to take more off the price.

That is a nice runner. I have to say though that people are saying that depending on the drive train, its worth $9k. We have a rust free 70 runner that has a running 383 HP with auto trans that needs light body work and paint for $5k and no one wants to buy it. Its a factory disk brake car with a lighted hood too. http://s60.photobucket.com/albums/h4/Jeremymacdonald/70%20runner/
