Is there a factory cam in it right now? If so yea that cam will be very good for you.

the guy i got the motor from said it has a mopar purple cam with 509/292 :shruggy:

Cooter

If it is, That .509 Cam is a BIG cam...loads of overlap...Sounds good, but needs some other High Perf. mods to run well...

You won't be happy with that cam using 3.23 gears !  :eek2:

I'd look at something a little bigger than the 262 Comp unless the engine has very low compression.  ;)

The Lunati VooDoo 303 grind or the Crower HDP282 would be my choice.  :2thumbs:

What intake manifold/carb are you using ? Power brakes ? Headers or manifolds ?

Bill, has that compression ratio been measured or is that what the seller told you it was ? Lots of piston manufacturers state 10.5:1 but that is usually incorrect. It would need to have a domed piston to achieve that C/R or the heads would need to be milled significantly if using a flat top piston.  :yesnod:

it has flat top piston. the heads are 4406pack. i was told to use comp cam kit 21-223-4 and 355 gears.

Bill, do you have a part number for those pistons ? There are several different flat tops available and the critical dimension is the compression height. The further the piston is down the bore....the lower the static compression.  :yesnod:

If you do in fact have 10.5:1 that cam will be too small to allow the engine to run on pump gas....assuming that is your intention.  ;)
