Got 15x8 4,5"rear spacing and 15x10 5" inch rear spacing 




I think that the rims fit well ;D    Tires are 245 in front and 295/50 cooper cobra in rear.

Hello everyone! I have read this entire thread and still have a few questions on wheel/tire fitment.

Wondering if the below will work on a 68 Charger with no modifications other than those listed below.
Stock wheel wells front and rear
PST 2 in drop spindles with the Willwood disc brake upgrade on front
1 in drop rear leafs
stock 8 3/4 rear with drums

Here is the wheel/tire combo I am thinking about
Circle racing series 94 billet magnum 500s
17 x 7 front with 4.5 in bs
18 x 9.5 rear with 5 in bs
Diamond back classics redlines (Nitto 555s)
255/50/17s front
295/45/18s rear

any thoughts or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: Got this figured out I think. ordered wheels and tires a few days ago!

Hey guys,

My car is in the body shop right now and leaving soon. I want to throw some wheels and tires on it before it leaves.
I'm going with the Billet Specialties SLG60 wheel.
Front - 17x8" (backspace offered: minimum/4025, maximum/6.125)
Rear - 17x10" (backspace offered: minimum/4.25, maximum/8.125)

My rear end is a Strange Dana 60 built to stock length and specs (NOT shortened).

I'm going to order those rims this weekend if possible.
I've seen those sizes on a million chargers and know they work without tubbing wheel housings and using stock suspension.
Furthermore, I have a full Reilly Motorsports coil over system in the front right now, and I'm going to install the rear when I get the car back (so I should have more clearance than with the OEM setup, especially with eliminating the rear leafs).

Can you guys that have done this before just throw out some backspacing numbers for the front and rear. I guess I want the tire to sit in the center of the wheel well as much as possible and take up as much space. If it had to lean either way outside of the center, I guess I would want them a little wider apart than closer together, but center sounds perfect. I think that's what everyone tries to shoot for, right?

For what it's worth, I ordered the following for my car. 68 charger, 8 3/4 rear, car is lowered 2 inches, no other suspension modifications in the back, stock width rear.

17x8 front 4.5 backspace 245/45/17 tire size
18x9.5 rear 5 backspace 285/40/18 tire size

It depends on where you read, some say a 5.5 backspace will fit, I measured and could not see how it would work on mine. Others say 5.25 would be ideal. I went with 5" based on my measurements

I talked with Bill over at Reilly Motorsports and he said that he would run the 17x*" front with 5.25" of backspacing.
He said that 5 & 5.5 were both on the extreme sides of the spectrum (he may have just been accommodating his suspension setup that's on my car).
Rear - 17x10" with 5.5" of  backspacing.

Hopefully that setup will work!
Do you have a pic of your car with that staggered wheel stance?  :drool5:

What did you do to lower the car?

I am using 2 in drop spindles in the front and blocks in the rear for now until I save up for custom springs.

I will once they come in and I get the tires mounted. Just ordered them this past weekend. I will post a pic when they are on the car.

A question.

Im ordering Foose f204 coronet wheels for another charger.

Im thinking 20x10 rear but i cant decide about backspace. BS between 5 and 5,5 inch.

Front im going for 19x8 but its the same there. BS between 4 and 4,5inch.

Rear BS is optional 5, 5.25, 5.5
Front is optional 4, 4.25, 4.5

Whats your recommendation?

It´s a 70 charger

Geeze- I've got to stop reading through these posts so fast. I did get the 8.5's for my rear wheels, not the 15x8. sorry to mislead you. No clearance issues, could have gone bigger on the tire size.

Just ordered a set of Cooper Cobra's to replace my Indy 500 Firehawks that are 12 years old.
Unfortunately they don't make the Indy 500 Firehawk with RWL any more in a decent size but the Cobra's still have that old school look. It's really a shame, the Firehawk's look awesome.
255/70r15 rear and 235/70r15 in the front should be interesting  :2thumbs:
Soon there won't be anymore classic old school rwl tires being made.

Yes I did.
Got my new ones delivered Friday, spent today mounting and balancing and then test drove. Verdict= purely awesome.
These tires raised the car 1 inch on all corners and rides completely different now. Plus I really love the old school look. No rubber band tires for me.
