Will I be able to fit a 15"x10" rim with 5,5" BS set ut with BFG's 275 60 R15 in the rear of a 1970 Charger? I currently run 15"x8" with 3.75" BS with the same BF tire (275 60 R15)

Looks great. Do you ever have any issues with running on the back tires?
'69 Charger, 440/727

chargererik

What do you mean with running on the back tire?

rikubot

Very sorry. Typo. I meant to ask if you have RUBBING issues...
'69 Charger, 440/727

chargererik

Currently no rubbing issues with 15"x10" with 3,75 BS with BFG's 275 60 R15

Dino

I don't think you should have issues with the 15"x10" rims with 5,5" bs. There's plenty running that with a 295 without rubbing.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

chargererik

I guess most people running 295's got 50 profil, Do you still think the 275's with 60 profil will run clean? anyone that run this combo?

Dino

I run a 275/50R17 and it's about 28" tall like a 275/50R15. No issues with that.

68ChargerDownUnder

That's a good looking Charger! What tire/rim size and backspace are you running on the front?

chargererik

Not sure about the BS, it's a 7x15" rim with a 225 70 15 BFG

Hi guys and gals,

Wheels and tires came in. 245/45/17 in front, 305/45/18 in back....its gonna be close.

I'll post pics when installed.

Thanks for the advice and photos.

Hey guys!
I would actually like to order this same setup this week (size wise). Do you know how it turned out? I have a four link setup in the rear and an AlterKation kit up front, which should give me more room. I just want to make sure they don't rub on the the lip of the quarter or inner wheel well.

Thank you

Jeff

She was recently active, maybe she will reply or send a pm.  Assuming you saw all the pics on most of page 15 and mention of possible rubbing top of page 16, due to difference in gap side to side.

So my car is a 1969 Dodge Charger vin is G G I think that it is a se but if the is a spot for build threads someone can correct me it's way older than me. My ? Are for the breaks and rims I'm at the Point where I'm finishing the plumbing needs a master cylinder and my car has no vac for power brakes is there a thred for this?. The rims I have came off a jeep 2005 ish they where off a buddy jeep so I got them jeep like less than 120$ a wheel he wanted new rims but the willwood hubs do not fit and I'm wondering if I'm better off selling them or going to the Machine shop and having it fixed

I went with American Racing Torq Thrust IIs.  18x8 with 4.5" backspace in front with 255/45R18.  18x10" with 5.75" backspace and a 3/8" spacer in the rear with 295/45R18.  Tires are Nitto NT555.

With the spacer in the rear I have 1" of clearance from tire to leaf spring.

The fronts fit great on the driver's side, dead center in the wheel opening.  On the passenger's side they are very close to the forward fender lip, so there's an alignment or geometry issue I'll be chasing shortly.  Ride height in the front is right at 27" to the highest point of the wheel opening.

This is exactly the setup I'm going with on my '68 except i did the PVD finish. Great to see that it works how do you like it?
Got any pics of yours?

MxRacer855

Hey guys, quick question. I have stock wheel wells on my '68 (not tubbed). I am running a 4-link setup instead of springs which gives me a tiny bit more clearance.

I'm about to order a set of 18x10's with 5 1/2" of backspacing. I've had a lot of help from some pretty knowledgeable people that got me to this point, but could use some additional input. I know that a 285/40-18 is a safe bet, but I'm going to be putting some good power down and really want a bigger tire. A 295 is a hard size to find in what I'm looking for, so I want to run a 305/45-18. Are any if you running that right now? I just want to make sure it will fit with minimal rubbing. I've seen it before on here, but I guess am just looking for last minute advice to feel better. Lol.

I also really love the look of that size.

Thank you!

Jeff

I have 295/45R18s on 18x10 w/ 5.75 BS and a 3/8" spacer. They are close but I think another 5mm inboard would be ok.

All my geometry should be stock.  Stock replacement springs and I haven't had any rubbing either inboard or outboard.

Hello all,

I am looking to put 295s on a 10.5 wheel on the rear. What is considered too tall? I see that 295/35/18 matches our stock height? Also on the front I thought 245s was the biggest in regards to steering and suspension issues? Iam concerned with the car looking too tall. The matching stock height up front is 245/40/18.
thanks

Too tall as in interfering with drive-ability or personal preference? I run a 28" tall tire on the rear but I like the staggered look.

You can run wider up front but you'll have to be careful with backspacing. There's people here running 255s and even 275s up front.

Can our stock steering handle 275 tires up front?

I did some playing around yesterday in the cold, we have a lot of room up front! I put on a 275/40/20 9.5 wheel from my 2015 charger with a 18.5mm offset - 6in backspace.

It only bumps the frame when turned all the way in. There is at least 1.5 inches to the lip as well. With a zero offset these wheels would fit with ease. zero offset bumps the wheel out 0.7 inches with still more room to go to the lip

They fit the backs easily as well, with at least an inch to the lip and 1/2 to the leaf spring.

Why are you running a 3/8" spacer on there? It looks like you'd have enough clearance without them.

The picture is a little deceiving, it was really close without the spacer. Less than half a finger's width for sure and with any sidewall flex I'm pretty sure it would rub. I used 3/8" because I had some handy but I would have been fine with 1/4" as well. Just a little extra insurance.

Moparmatty

It's too bad they make those 18"x10" wheels with a +6mm (1/4") offset instead of a 0mm offset.

I'm going to be using the same ones.

I am looking at stepping up to 17s that will fill my fender well (soon I hope). I have been through these 18 pages and unfortunately soooo many of the pictures are gone and the links have died. I'm still trying to determine the offset and backspacing.

It took two and a half months to get the wheels on backorder, but got them in this weekend.  Weld S79 18x10 with 5.7 inch bs in the back wrapped in Nitto NT01 305/35 and 18x8 with 4.7 bs in the front in 245/30.  Will try and find a taller profile tire next time around, but for now I think dropping the suspension about an inch will get the gaps about right.
