Let me start with my setup, 68' 440, stock compression, bored .040 over with .484/.284 MP cam, RPM intake, 1 7/8" TTI Headers, Turbo Action Hemi converter, TCI manual valve body & 3:55 Dana.

25 years ago when I first built this motor all I knew was Holley now you have so many choices that it gets confusing.  I keep reading about Profrom on the site & it looks like everyone loves them, but I see that you have a few different choices from street to strip. Can someone recommend the right Proform for my setup, part # would be great.

Thanks,
Marco

i would say a 750 would be about right with mech secondaries.

Thanks for replying, a 750 Proform mech secondaries is what I was looking at but they have a Race and a Street series 750 carb. I like the race series but is it going to be to much carb for my setup?

my guess is the race series might have a 4 corner idle adjustmeants  and i a few other fancy things. the street one  As long as its not a vac operated secondaries it should be good .

I would go with the race series 750 dp'er with 4 corner idle.  :Twocents:

Good choice.

A mechanical secondary 4150 style holley is really straight forward to tune. Get yourfelf a holley kit with various squirters, main jets, powervalves, and you should be good to go. I have yet to have to play with the pump cam arms.(pro form and demon are just holley knock offs)

Real simple carb to work with. Check and see what you pull for vacuum at idle once you get all 4 corners dialed in then install a powervalve atleast 1 size down. Ie if you pull 8 inches of vac at idle go for a 6.5 powervalve. Get the initial timming set before you start adjusting idle and you should be good to go. Only problems I have witnessed with other guys cars is that the powervalve was opening at idle. Made it impossible to set the idle. Oh ya before you install make sure the primary blades and secondary blades are adjusted so you see a blades width of the idle transfer slot looking at the carb from the underside.

I bought the Proform as well and absolutely love it.
