Black exterior door handle buttons now available/door handle debate part 2

So here's a simple thing that will be convoluted by the time I get done explaining it all. Until recently you could only get chrome buttons. However, there's been some debate in the past about door handles for 2nd gen Chargers and how many people are passing off later model truck and van handles as Charger handles when they don't fit right. I don't know which category the above handles fit into but see this thread from almost 2 years ago and you'll see what I'm talking about: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,38556.0.html IIRC Vans Auto LLC is not selling the correct handle and yet they seem to be the only company selling the black buttons.

Now, here's a fine example of a BS auction featuring supposed "NOS" door handles for $325. They might be NOS something but not NOS Charger door handles as advertised because I can tell you that there was no blue horseshoe Mopar logo back in 1970. Those are likely the BE&A handles. I thought you could get the buttons separately at one time.

Oh, so Vans is reselling the BE&A stuff I guess. I wonder what they would have to say about the claim made by Larry in that second link above? I would imagine BE&A would make them like the originals.

I have a pair with black buttons from PG Classis, which is BE&A without chrysler logo and they fit superb and looks great.

You could still buy handles straight from Mopar. These were truck handles that looked essentially the same but the mechanisms were different. I also believe the curve where they mounted was flatter and didn't fit correctly.

I still remember Mike from BE&A mentioning at one point about selling the buttons separately. I can't find it though. I'm not sure exactly when their handles hit the market and I haven't seen them on a car yet. I found a (semi) local place that will rechrome my original for $50 so I'm going to give them a shot at a pair and see what comes of it.
