Has anyone ever noticed how far apart the tail pipes are on old GM muscle cars like chevelles, GTO, olds, Buick? Each tail pipe is practically next to the quarter panel.  I guess it's because of the wide GM gas tank.  :shruggy:

Performance wise it doesn't matter, I just think the tail pipes on the B-bodies look better becuase they are close together.

All the GMs you mentioned are a factory 4 link with coil springs...   they have a very wide and shallow fuel tank as you also mentioned - so the exhaust can only fit so many places...   :2thumbs:

Odd?  I've owned many of both and never noticed that.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I never paid attention to it either until I was looking at a picture of this GTO yesterday, now compare it too the tail pipes on this Roadrunner, a big difference. Also look at the tail pipes on the Chevelle, then the Charger.

Back N Black

Charger gotta have the rectangle tips to match the big square ass, it just don't look right with round tips on a Charger. I know a little of topic.  :icon_smile_big:
