hey guys/gals,

i threw this up on lxforums, just wanting to make sure this is kosher on all ends, so thanks in advance for any thoughts/ideas...

"took the Charger to the dealer for oil change/state inspection&emissions, and i get a call back saying that i failed inspection because i was leaking exhaust out the headers. the lady did say that i passed emissions, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but that's neither here nor there.

after further inspection they said that the leak was coming from between the head, and the headers.

so, if you were me, would you

a: get a new manifold and hope for the best
-or-
b: just get a new set of headers. (if i decide to go with this, i will get the long-tubes w/high flow cats)"

the word from the folks on lxforums said that i should just get new head gaskets, is this correct?

Find out exactly where the leak is coming from & fix it.  If the leak is between the head & block, replace the head gasket.  If the leak is between the head & the header, tighten the fasteners.  If it still leaks, replace the exhaust gasket (if there is one betwen the head and header).  If it still leaks, replace the header with a header or exhuast manifold, after ensuring the mating surfaces are dead flat.
