Charger 500

Firts year to Charger 500 was 69... with flushed glass and grill to better aerodinamics at Nascar. Same flushed glass was used on the mid year production car, Daytona.

then on 70 and 71, was no more than a trim package non related with aerodinamics or Nascar.

500s on 69 were 440 standart ( an R/T with diff glass and grill )... on 70 standart engines were 225 and 318, optionally  up to 383 4bbl, and 71 were standart 318 optionally up to 383 4bbls ( but not 340 )

then the rest is simply some trim and equipments.

I've got a question while we're on the subject:
Did all 500's have the little "500" logo on the headlight cover? Mine is a 500 according to the VIN, but it has the standard "arrow in square" logo thingy..

I think it was just an option.

Now the reason i ask is because im not very familiar with the 500's and saw one at my local dragstrip and it was a 70. I thought that the 70 500's had the wierd looking window. Did all the 70's have the normal looking r/t rear windows?

Yup, all '70s had the recessed window tunnel. Only the 69 Daytona and 69 500 had the flush rear window in 2nd gen. A 500 is just a trim upgrade equal to what came on the base models in 68 and 69. A base model '70 had no plastic tail panel, no upper door pads, a bench seat, no clock, etc., unless that stuff was ordered and purchased seperately.
