yeah there was  quite a bit of info & stuff about that  in the 80s early 90s   , still 2 bolt mains though !!   to me not worth the hassle with  all the Hemi blocks out there now  :yesnod:  , also number 1 cylinder header tube , needs to be  creative to miss the wedge block motor mount ears :yesnod:

Those have been around a long time  but I wasn't aware they could still be purchased (they disappeared for a while).

The heads are bare so you still need to purchase all the parts to finish them off. From that page: "Specific Stage V Hemi Conversion rocker arms and stands are required, along with some necessary support items". You also need to machine the 440 block and find all the rest of the expensive Hemi parts (valve covers, air cleaner, intake and exhaust manifolds). If that $4k includes the rocker arms and stands it might not be too bad (I bought a set of MP iron heads for $1,600 and a used set of rockers/stands for $1,100). Brand new Hemi blocks aren't incredibly expensive and with completed Hemis starting around $12k I'm not sure you'd be saving much money. However, using the 440 crank makes finding all the pulleys and accessories a lot easier so you can save some installation costs.

yeah we gave them a call and i assume the 4k covers the complete head with rockers and everything needed to mod the block. we are calling back to confirm this. total out it seems we could build a 520 ci stroker for around 8k which is still much cheaper than a crate hemi and it puts out more power, plus its a hemi

No, it's a 440 with Hemi heads. ;)

You can build the entire rest of the engine including the Hemi intake and valve covers for $4k? Or are you just counting the long block? Crate motors include everything from oil pan to intake and some, like FHO include the carb and air cleaner.

You'll need specialized pistons won't you? My Hemi heads were something like 170 cc (I see these are 168 cc so no way you're using 440 pistons). Just wondering since I'll have over $4,000 in my mostly stock 446 with Stealth heads.

When I was building my Hemi it looked like I'd have around $10-11k in it with good deals on used parts. That's from the big chrome air cleaner down including the exhaust manifolds but no fancy aluminum or extruded parts. FHOs crate Hemis start at $13k. The expensive parts are all in the top end (heads, rockers, etc. For a correct looking restoration, valve covers, a dual carb intake, correct carbs, and air cleaner used to run about $3,500-4,000. Mopar gets $800 just for rocker stands.

Yeah, your correct!! We looked up a price guide for building a 520 hemi out of a 440! It total $13,000. It is still a little cheaper that a stroker hemi! Not by much! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120278800742&crlp=1_263602_263622&ff4=263602_263622&viewitem=&guid=92ddd3351250a0b582e4ddf4ffa5320a&rvr_id=&ua=WXS%3F&itemid=120278800742

Just an idea!!
