Installed a Mopar crate 528 with a single plane Ray Barton/Mopar single plane intake. Installed in 69 dodge Charger, Schemacher mounts.
Hood does not look like it will close without air filter let alone with it. Tranny is not quite in position yet but wont make that much of a difference. What single carb intake will clear the hood?
What has every one els neen using with single carb ?

Its a hemi. Run an inline stage IV intake and get 2 carbs. It will fit under the hood.

Installed a 426 Hemi with a single 4bbl intake (mopar) and it fin under my boss's 69 GTX hood...     We used a drop base air cleaner and it was alright - really tight though...     Also ran the Schumacher mounts as well

A "single plane" intake is far different than the single 4 bbl intake.  The Barton single plane is more of a race manifold and Ray is not overly concerned with hood clearence.  If you need to run a single carb. go with the crate engine (426-472-528)single carb manifold.  If you want it to look stock buy the new mopar restoration dual quad intake, bolt on two 625 Edelbrocks and go from there.

exactly - I was just informing of what i have used on what car that fit as a suggestion  :2thumbs:

Installed dual plane single 4 bl mopar intake. Air cleaner just kisses hood still. Ordered a 1" drop base pan for the air filter. It is being made as Mopars air filters only measures 13 " not the standard 14 " like everyone else. Ray Barton told me I would be giving up 70-80 hp with this intake over his single plane high rise. Does this sound high ?

I think 80-90hp is a little high but then again he knows a lot more about his engines than I do...       :Twocents:

But i look at it this way - if the damn thing does not fit on your car who cares how much power it makes...

What was the output of your engine before the intake swap ?  What was the advertised hp and tq  ?

Ray Barton says they dyno 625-640 hp and 650 ft/lbs torque

With the drop base get a filtered top cover. When there dropped they sometimes sit to close to the carb and wind up holding it back a bit.

werner

CAn't find a filtered top for  Mopar 13" air filter. What an oddball size to make. WHy didn't theyn just make a 14" like everyone else. Don't want to but another air filter as I wan to go Satge V 2x4 next year
