Are the AVS and AFB kits the same for both carbs?  Are they the same for Carter and Edelbrock?  Should I get the $17 one, or spend the extra $30 and get the Edelbrock sticker with it?

I think the kits comes with both gaskets for either an AFB or AVS.  Could be wrong though.  And where are you finding Edelbrock rebuild kits for $30?  My local speed shop and Pep Boys wants at least $45 or higher for a rebuild kit.

I said extra $30.  $30 + $17 = $47
