Guys my old original rusted out fenders had 8 small holes that held the fender screens (Under the scoops) on with pop rivets. Is this the correct way that these were held in place. Need to know as the car is getting painted Saturday. Thanks Rob.

I dont believe they were riveted .Im thinking maybe welded and tacked in place

I do have one old screen, still in good shape with no signs of being welded and ground down later when removed? What do ya think. Rob.

Agree - Tack-welded on, very lightly, in only a few spots. Every car I have ever seen or had has been this way.

The original welds probably let go and a Prev. owner must have riveted them on. Unless of course, they are converted 70's from many yrs ago.

:iagree:  x3

Every time I think I'm doing a thorough job of taking pictures of my car's restoration, a topic pops up like this that shows me I've come far short of thoroughly documenting every detail as well as it should be.   :brickwall:  I found a couple of pictures of the screen spot-welding, but not nearly as many as I thought I had.  Anyway, here's a before and during (don't have an after-resto pic of this area yet) of my car showing the light spot welds.  They probably didn't hit this area hard with the welder in case the burn marks would have peeked out from underneath the scoop.

kw - what car are you working on? Is it a Canadian?

Daytona R/T SE

Here's my poorly centered, slightly out of focus shot of Geno's fender screen I took while the car was on his flatbed truck at Monster Mopar a few years ago: :coolgleamA:

Looks like they just tack-welded it in place, no?

Yup, typically in four places (one at each corner) from what I can tell.

Thanks for all the info. I will weld them in. Delivered the car today to the paint shop. Can't wait to start assembling.  Max it is a canadian car. Nova Scotia

Anyone here know where I can get the fender screen and the nose seals for inside the nose?

Is anybody going to the Talladega Meet that reproduces or has access to a complete jack system for my Daytona (Nova Scotia Daytona) The 2 grills on the fenders under the scoops are also needed. Front nose cone grill is not bad, but I would pick up a new one if avaliable. Also I need a jack hold down plate for my Superbird. I will be bringing the Bird to the show. Any leads or tips would be great. Thanks Rob.

wayne perkins has the fender and grille screen material it is exact .  He is going to dega .   here is his email address i sure he will gladly bring it to you .     farmboy36b@comcast.net

Fender Screen - Wayne Perkins as suggested.  He has super-correct grille screen material also...

Nose Seals - David Patik (Performance Car Graphics) offers correct look/texture repro seals that have been post-cured to increase their stiffness somewhat like the originals.  CarGraphix@aol.com  or 850-878-1450.   Have not seen Mike/Dayclona's seals in person to say what they're like.
