I was considering adding an electric fuel pump to my '73. (446)

I have a Carter street pump on the engine now and want to keep it.  I want the electric pump for a boost pump.

To refill the carb after it has sat for a week . To help with vapor lock and of course at high fuel flow times.

Do Holleys and Mallorys allow the engine driven pump to draw fuel thru them when they are not running?

I was not going to run the electric pump all the time.

i ran a carter electric pump and a carter mech pump for years. i never had any problems.i would'nt do it now.i would just use a good electric pump.i think you would need to run the electric one if you used the mech also.

I am in the same situation. I just bought a Carter 4954 electric pump. I'm going to install it next week. I heard you have to bump the motor over a couple of times to get the fuel up to the carb. to push fuel thru the mech. pump.
