I see some want the timing all in by 2000 and the next guy will say 2500 and someone else says 3000.  Where do you like to see it at and why?

3000. I read it in Mopar Action or Mopar Muscle and it worked fine.

3000-3500 is essential. When I look at programmable ignition motors that have been tweaked to perfection on a dyno I see a 1-3 degree difference at most above 3500 RPM. most of the mopar blocks are quite happy being all-in at 3000 and above with the exception of the 383 stroker(426), the 400(451) stroker and the 413 blocks that I have had experience with, they all liked to have their timing in closer to 2500, and they all liked their initial timing much higher. I usually had to weld the slots up quite a bit on the distributors on those.

Why does Mopar Performance recommend 2000 across the board?

Couldn't tell you, I stopped paying attention to anything mopar performance had to say after I saw the 484 and 509 cam grinds :)

That's like 200rpm over the stock stall isn't it?  Seems a bit odd to me.

That's why I'd like to understand the why as much as the what.
