Tell ya what....reading some of those "rants" made me wish that there was a way to slap the s**t out of some of those people.  Kiss is planning a fall tour, for one thing, (with Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick)  and Ozzy can still put on a hell of a good show...especially with Zakk Wylde backing him up.  As far as Ace Frehley's new album...well...we just have to wait and see.

Theyve been playing "Outer Space" from the new record a lot on Sirius. It's a pretty decent tune - a little derivative and predictable, but good nonetheless. The new record also has a pretty cool cover of Sweet's "Fox on the Run".

KISS is a little past the "planning" stage.

They're well into their tour already. Played two shows up this way last week.

As for the new Frehley album, it's the same stuff Ace has been putting out on his solo albums.

More songs about him being from outer space.

<yawn>

and I am a KISS fan. Seen them about 10 times now.

As a KISS devotee most of my life, I went to the "Farewell Tour" in Cleveland in 1996 with the original lineup...saw them in '77 (Love Gun), '78 (Alive II), '83 (Lick It Up), '85 (Asylum), '87 (Crazy Nights) and '92 (Revenge), but I have to say, that putting Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer in "The Cat" and "Spaceman" makeup is sacrilege.

I heard Gene on Howard Stern Tuesday and read the USA Today article, and these friggin' guys are WAAAAY too into themselves. I mean a little ego goes a long way in Rock-N-Roll, but these guys are ridiculous. They charge a hundred fans or more a thousand bucks apiece to go backstage BEFORE the concert for a meet and greet...at EACH show.

They have over 3000 licensed KISS trinkets for sale, and now they're in bed with ChinaMart and have "KISS Korners" set up in all 4 corners of the store where they sell more stuff. It makes me sick.

I couldn't care less about the new album, but because I'm a spiteful prick towards Gene Simmons and Lars Ulrich-types, I WILL be going on thepiratebay.com or torrentz.com and grabbing myself a copy. Sorry if that offends anyone, but, if I think the album sucks, which it probably will (since, after all, they are hyping it up as a rival to Destroyer and/or Love Gun...ummm, NOT.) I can just delete it and won't have wasted my "price of a sandwich", as Gene says, $12.00, on garbage.

Gene DID give Ace's new record, Anomaly, a plug on Howard's show, and I have heard the new single, and it's okay, but, it IS rather formulaic; we know you're the Spaceman, Space Ace, etc., Ace...if your name's attached, we'll have a listen. Sing about anything else but space at this point...

Yep, I just read that stuff today. Pretty interesting. I also read some other stuff too. Apperentley rumor had it that Ozzy kicked Zakk out of the band because his music was starting to sound like Black Label Society (Zakk's band). However, that rumor has been denied by Ozzy. Also, after 18 failed attempts, Ozzy finally got his driver's licence! ;)

I bought Ace's new album last month already.   It's decent.    Good instrumental stuff -Space Bear.   Fox on the Run rocks pretty good.  It'll probably outsell Sonic Boom.

Won't give another dime to Gene and haven't since I saw the the last "farewell"  tour in 01.    They're their own tribute band anymore.
I probably doubt I'd have even got excited about them playing Cobo the other week if I still lived in Detroit.
Yeah,   I'm an old KISS fan that appreciated Ace more than anything else.   It's great that he's been sober'd up for 3 years now.

Oh... this is great...   watch it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nwOLfppXhsk&feature=player_embedded

IMHO sounding like BLS would have been a good thing. Has Ozzy put out anything decent since No More Tears? Ozzmosis was ok...but everything since has been complete crap. Like that "Imagine"-knock off he put out a couple of years ago or that "Don't wanna stop" garbage that might as well have been a Pink or Avril Lavigne song.

Go to http://www.nehrecords.com/ and in the search box, type in ACE FREHLEY - Anomaly. It takes you to the page where you can read about the cd and hear sound samples of all the songs on the cd. I buy most of my cd's from this website now.

I've tried on several occasions to get into Kiss but IMO they're all show and no go. By the looks of them back in their "badass" makeup days you'd think they could really rock but I consider bands like Cheap Trick and Lynyrd Skynyrd to be more hard rock bands than Kiss.

Ozzy on the other hand. :2thumbs:

Gene gave up songwriting and music long ago since he is to busy marketing everything he touches. A few weeks ago on the History channel they had a biography on Gene which I thought would be interesting. After ten minutes I realized it was nothing but a shameless plug for his new CD.

:bump:

Besides, like you said above, I LOVE Cheap Trick...thought they were/are one of the most underrated, underappreciated bands of the 70s...people who listen to "Classic Rock" radio can only hear "I want you to want me" so many times...they're way more than that, or the 80s hit, "The Flame". Rick Nielsen might be weird, but the boy can flat-out play.

FWIW, two other great 70s bands who didn't hit (here) until the 80s were the Scorpions and Judas Priest....I own every Priest record ever produced; they had GREAT records in the 70s...Rocka Rolla, Sad Wings of Destiny, Stained Class...wow. Scorps, same thing...Fly to the Rainbow, In Trance, Taken by Force, Lovedrive....good stuff.

And, as much of a KISS fan as I am/was, I realize that the current KISS is so irrelevant, and has been for quite a while. Gimme my Love Gun, Destroyer, Hotter Than Hell, Rock And Roll Over, etc., and retire already...even those albums have the taint of overstayed welcome attached to them now, lessening my enjoyment of them.

I just went to see KISS last Saturday with my 7 year old boy.I am a life long KISS fan and have seen them dozens of times. This was a  great show.I know that ACE and Peter are not there, but I was still entertained.Plus I paid $20 to see the show and my boy loved it too. Nobody puts on a better show period...Their new record is great as well.Very Rock and Roll over meets Love Gun.I bought Ace's too and really I thought it would be better, but I can't wait to see him if he ever comes here.By the way Zakk is no longer in Ozzy. Gus G from Firewind is his new guitar player...

Rock & Roll bands cannot age well by definition.  It's like a hot porn chick or a brand new car.  After so many years of operation you just gotta be glad if it still has something to offer and it isn't diminishing the memory of its younger self.
