Police in Iowa have tracked down two suspects accused of trying to break into an apartment, after their pen-marked faces gave them away.

The Associated Press reports that officers were responding to a call about an attempted burglary, when they pulled over a car, similar to the suspects' vehicle.

The pair inside matched the descriptions given by the caller, who said two men with painted faces had tried to break in.

The suspects had faces covered with black pen - but unfortunately for them, the pen was permanent marker.

Matthew McNelly, 23, and Joey Miller, 20, were arrested at gunpoint after officers were told they might be armed.

They were each charged with attempted second-degree burglary and were released after posting bond.

Ummmm...wouldn't it have been easier to just use good old fashioned ski masks?    :badidea:  :shortbus:

Right - seriously, put on one of those 99 cent Zorro masks or something like people wear on Halloween - or a freaking bandanna. My god. Unbelievable the amount of stupidity in this world. It must be contagious.  :-\

They were probably starving artists down on their luck & simply using their artistic skills & the supplies that were available to them. Had they been out of work ski instructors, they'd have likely used ski masks. Of course that would be less creative & a bit cliche'.

It's IOWA.  My wife and niece are from there and they joke about Idiots Out Walking Around.

No offense, I hope or if you're from Iowa you can take it up with them.

If that's the best they can do I can see why they're starving.

What is posted above goes to show you that some doesn't think. I agree with everyone else here about the mask's. I wonder what part of "permanent" marker didn't they get  :smilielol:

Bet they did it on purpose and knew that it would most likely get them noticed, which, they have succeeded. They are now celebrity criminals and will have a book deal , reality show, or something else.   :2thumbs:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?
