How do I remove a broken extractor

I had a extractor break off flush with my head when I was trying to get part of a valve cover bolt out. I have tried to chisel it out now that my dad put oil which had assembly lube in all over it and I can't get a clean hit on it to break it. I know that I can't drill it out because it is hardened steel. So does anybody have an idea of how I can get this thing out? BTW it is a real tiny extractor.

Lay a nut over the broken stub and weld the nut to the stub, the nut will provide a wrenching surface to remove the extractor and maybe the broken bolt too.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Yep!

If all else fails, the ONLY way to get it out will be to grab a "pencil" die grinder and a Small set of Carbide bits and go at it....

I've heard of getting that freeze stuff in a can, or just flipping a can of compressed air up side down while spraying it and grabbing it with vice grips.  Should pull the bolt out with it.

Welding an alan wrench to it works good, then just twist it out.

Thanks for the ideas I am probably gonna have to grind it out since I can't think of anyone that's got a welder near me.

Not only does welding a nut to the stub provide a wrenching point it also heats it up which helps a lot too.
