Hi have an 73 charger I bought as a basket case I ran the Vin to see if it was an RT, SE, plain Jane...... I keep coming up with a Hard top -High price what dose this mean? is it an rt charger?
Thank You

Bob

Your VIN did not post. Try again.
Bob

1972Rallye

No R/T in '73 unless your are in South America or something...

SE = WP29
Hardtop = WH23
Coupe - WL21

Rallye package can be found on either Hardtop or Coupe.  Look for V21 (Performance hood treatment) on the fender tag if it is a Lynch Rd. car (7th digit of VIN is A) or A57 (Rallye package) if it is a St. Louis car (7th digit of VIN is G).

... as Bob suggested, post the VIN and fender tag info and we can do it for ya.  You can leave off the last digits of the VIN if you want to...

Paul

also is there any pic of the rally package for 73?

It's a regular '73 with a 318-2bbl. If there is a fender tag on the car, it will have more than a "2". :yesnod:

There is a fender tag on the car but nothing is stamp on it beside a #2 may be some one down the road replace it? How else would I tell if it was a rally option the car defiantly came with bucket seat ,console , gauges, some one switch hood on the car not original one , did have the holes on the truck lid for a rear spoiler,
The last owner who had the car before me took off parts like console ,seats,rear wing, etc.

Would this be consider a rally car?
what other option on the car it self can I look for that would tell me beside a fender tag?

is the front grill diffrent from a rally to a standard car? or they same I notice the plain standard car and the SE model have a center red stripe on the grill I don't have this on mine

Thank You for all your help

Lynch Rd. usually had two tags (one with data and one for inspectors stamps). It sounds like he left you the inspector tag and took the one with the info.  Rear spoiler was not an option in '73, so it was an add on anyway.  Grille would be the same for Rallye and non-Rallye hardtops. The large Rallye stripes on the body side would be a dead-give-away, but you haven't mentioned those...

You could look for a rear sway bar and the rallye guage cluster, but those would not be 100% proof.  At this point you'll need to find the broadcast sheet (if there is one).  The best place to look is between the springs and foam of the rear seats or under the carpet.  If you find it, remove it carefully as it will be very brittle.  Look for code A57 under the Combination Groups section on line 7.  It'll look like the pic below...

OK i LOOK but I think rear seat he left me not orginal for car since interior is black and he left me blue rear seat I ll check under rug but not hoping a lot here the big stripe on the side well they did start restoration and striped the old pint repainted with primer. So I'm guessing Its a tough case of what it was? It did have a full vinal top I found the old holes for it but it dose not tell me any thing since plain jane and other came woth vinal top option.... I'll keep search .....
Thanks for your help.
Paul

ps I think it just a palne jane Charger but I will keep searching
