Hey gang..
I have a friend who's in her first time Mopar, a '71 Challenger R/T. She's wishing to convert the original manual front drums to disc brakes. She's been looking at the kit from Summit

(Summit SUM-BK1209 - Summit RacingĀ® Complete Drum-to-Disc Brake Conversion)

Summit Racing conversion kit link

Does anyone have experience with this kit? I'm wanting her to get feedback from people who have actually done this versus conversion utilizing factory components off a E-body for the conversion. Granted, doing the later will probably cost a booster servicing, rebuild calipers and new rotors. But, the cost might be nowhere near the kit and it would all be factory OEM parts.

Thanks for any input..

OH, and she's wishing to incorporate a line-lock system in it.

That kit is the same thing that SSBC sells...      at least that is what the photo shows...          it uses 66-67 mustang parts and incorporates a 1" spacer to take up the remainder of the spindle length.

The kit (if the photo is accurate) works -

I would just convert to the stock mopar stuff using the good old 11.75" parts -   :Twocents:

1968 Dodge Charger - 6.1L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.55 Sure Grip

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1964 Dodge Polara 500 - 440 / 4-speed / 3.91 Sure Grip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

The factory stuff is pretty available and affordable compared to that kit - plus she can always upgrade to wilwood or viper calipers if she is into the whole bling thing.
