What is the consensus here about how they were put on at the factory? I remember reading a Govier article once that said the car was painted the stripe color, the stripes were masked off, then the car was painted the body color.

Anyone have an original Charger with the stripes? I'm guessing they weren't vinyl from the factory.

Charger-Bodie

The bumble bee stripes were a decal. There were some stripes that got painted on though...IE 67 GTX stripes ...70 RR hood stripes...butt stripe on Challengers.......
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

my 68 charger has never been painted and its stripe is not painted. in fact its starting to crack pretty good. you would think they could make a stripe that would last longer then 40 years.  :2thumbs:
