The corn used in ethanol and for cattle feed is different than corn used for human consumption.

You're right, humans usually BBQ it or boil it lol

Corn used for human consumption is different than corn used for cattle feed, so ethanol really doesn't have anything to do with the growing  zuccini, apples, tomatoes, cucumbers argument.

If you want to bring ethanol into the discussion, you can say that the deer eating the corn will raise the cost of ethanol and beef since they are consuming the grain that was originally destined for those two.

Either way, controlling the deer population is a real problem that for some reason many can't seem to grasp.

This was caught on a game cam in coshocton county ohio right off county road 19. This is roughly 35 miles from my place.

This is what the deer bring to your area. You want them? You can have them.

so killing the deer is taking food away from mountain lions now,

which will make them more likely to attack us humans    :stirthepot:

THIS IS CRAZY these sea lions are protected and allowed to dessimate the endangered salmon, but everyone accepts thinning out Bambi's family, I don't get it, look at the pic of trapping the dumbazz sealion, and they just swim hundreds of miles back to the exact same spot.   SHOOT THEM DEAD!

GRANTS PASS, Ore. -- Indian tribes that fish in the Columbia River called on the states of Oregon and Washington today to seek permission from federal officials to kill or drive out sea lions that have been eating salmon at Bonneville Dam.  (the judge ordered that no sea lions can be shot)

About 40 sea lions hanging around fish ladders over the dam have eaten an estimated 1,100 salmon so far this year, amounting to about 4 percent of the returns to date in a spring chinook run that is shaping up to be one of the smallest on record.

While some sea lions were being trapped and taken away for eating salmon below Bonneville Dam, others were getting their fill.

IMHO a human shooting a deer with a high-powered rifle is only "cruel" and "murderous" until you watch how nature keeps things balanced.

The one common thing in nature's way is that the victim and the prey aren't separated by hundreds of yards. The only time animal hunting can be called a "sport" is if  the hunter and the prey are face-to-face.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Tilar

I never called it a sport. I'd call it survival of the fittest. If they can outrun an arrow or deer slug, they are the fittest. If not they are tomorrows jerky.  :2thumbs:

During the early 90's I was driving from college in mankato, mn back home to stevens point, wi just about every weekend and I went through a terrible string of bad luck hitting 5 deer in 3 years in cars and trucks, including my poor old 73, which wasn't feasable to repair at the time, all in wi.  Yes, I hunt not only for the meat but for the safety of all.

My god, that was drive from hell.  . i dont envy you at all.  My drive from college to home was 30 miles.   but i only did it 3 times a year...      :yesnod:
4 hours each way :eek2:  It was for two reasons, first it was the girlfriend, now wife, and I was flying skydivers in stevens point on the weekend.

I've got more than enough deer up here in Eastern Washington.  My biggest problem is wild turkeys.  They just showed up about six years ago.  They've multiplied so much that they had two hunting seasons for them last year.  It needs to be open season all year long on the filthy bastards.  They destroyed thousands of dollars worth of new landscaping and crap all over your yard.  It's like trying to constantly clean up after 50 puppies.  I'm just going to start filling the freezer with them until they get the idea to stay off of my property around the house.  Bob

There's a guy a couple miles down the road from me that has a bunch of turkeys. I see them around his fields all the time.

Just what is a sea lions roll in nature? Sounds like dog needs a great white shark to visit the seals. Not sure if the water is warm enough for one their.

Whites are coldwater sharks, actually.  They're one of the few warmblooded types of sharks so they can get away with it.

that is awesome, heh, thanks Brock.   I had no idea that was going on.   Funny in a way, that article.  a bit of it:

"Benoit Lenglet, a French chef who has been promoting the meat as a delicacy and offers a range of seal appetisers at his Montreal restaurant, has received emailed threats from European animal rights activists wishing him a death as bloody as a clubbed seal."   :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

saw this on the news last night...

http://www.boston.com/news/science/articles/2009/10/01/utility_to_remove_dams_blocking_salmon/

thought I'd share sorry for going sooooo damn far off topic but it is interesting in it's own right the salmon fishermen here in SF are having to charter themselves out as tour boats because of the now two year moritoriaum on salmon fishing here, all of our salmon are being imported from Alaska now.
