Is WM23H1AXXXXXX necessarily a Super Bee?

Hi;
I recently saw a 71 Charger in my area and the owner insists that it is a Super Bee! The VIN is WM23H1AXXXXXX and the car is repainted andd has the Super Bee stripes on it! I know that 71 Super Bee comes with WM23 but does it mean all WM23s are Super Bee? I strongly doubt about its being a Super Bee at all!

Nope,,, it's a Superbee...........

Is it for sale? I'd like to replace the one I used to have.

Yes it is. I have a 71 Bee, and I researched the WM23 vin before I bought the car.  :D

Thanks for your fast and clean replies. He may want to sell it but I live in Iran ;) Actually I never have thought to see a Super Bee around, I am happy to know that we have one in Iran.

A 340 '71 SuperBee is a rare car with only 320 built for USA + any built for EXport & CANADA.

JohnnyBee

All Super Bee's from 1968-1971 started with WM
In 1968 you could only get a Coupe (21)
For '69 and '70 21=Coupe and 23=Hardtop
And for 1971 only 23 Hardtops on Super Bees

So WM23H1= Super Bee, Hardtop, 340, Year 1971

1971 Chargers used a W
M = Super Bee
23 = Charger 2 Dr. H/Top
H= 340 4bbl V-8 275hp

I think the Bee you are looking at is this one:

well still needs a good body and paint job, but the car looks really nice. I like the "matched" interior with exterior, just that the local upholstery job could it be made better. Still good try and good idea :thumbs:

the Sedans 75 and later side mirros looks nice too on it. They are not sporty like the Cup kind ones, but still nice.

the exhaust are a little bit tiny :s

manual car ? or just a pistol grip on to auto shifter ?

It is a manual car having A833 on it from factory. The owner says only 39 manuals are made in 1971 with 340 Super Bee! Is it true?

The 383 was standard motor on this car, The 340 was a extra cost option. Most people payed a extra cost option to upgrade to a bigger motor like a 440, 440+6 or Hemi on most other Mopars, Nobody really wanted to pay extra to downgrade to a 340 hence the low production #'s on such a car. And even though the 440 was not a option on this particular car at least 3 (figure from 10 years ago) are known to exist. It maybe would lower your insurance going from a big block to small at that time. LEON.

Yeap. I've seen one. A white one down in the Broward County area of Florida during the NEBA days ( the best cruise spot in South Florida during the 80's, hamburger joint on the corner of US 1 and Sunrise Blvd). There was also an Autumn Bronze one for sale, IIRC, on ebaymotors a few years ago.......

Yes climbing insurance rates for Big Block cars was the reason for the 340 inclusion in '71, 1,681 Plymouth Road Runners were made with this engine mid Yr. Intro and fairly rare. they begin with "RM" in the Vin.

Nice pictures.. Love the color............ Not sure if you're going to get in trouble with the local government, but that American flag on the lower rear valance might get some attention..  :icon_smile_cool:

Not too many classics over there for a car show, no?...........  At least it's dry over there, don't have to worry about rust...........

Back in '71, the Shah and the US were allies (us older guys remember the Shah of Iran),,,,,,,,,, so no embargo then.. Importing American cars probably happened frequently..........

I'm 44 so I remember the Shah when I was much younger.  Yeah, you're right, we were allies then and cars had to have crossed over.  He sure got his hands on a nice one.  Not the Shah, the new guy.   :lol:
