how cheap can they be bought??
im in the middle of buying a 76 Oldsmobile Cutlass w/ a "turbo 400"??? transmission and a rear end but no motor trying to get a cheap v8 for it preferably under $100 is this doable or do i need to fork out some more dough?

I guess you can get lucky and get a running one that's ok for a 100....but where and when...maybe craigslist? If it has an Olds engine in it the trans wont fit a Chevy unless it has the multi patten trans. Exhaust is different, wiring, mounts....and the list goes on. Your better off TRYING to find an Olds to put back in it. Almost any V8 is the same for the trans and the mount locations. I have had good engines given to me and bought junk ones for a few hundred. If you don't here it run first it's a crap shoot.

had a 400 c.i. in it i think thats an olds/pontiac motor?

scratch that... guy just sold it out from under me (had a deposite down.. getting that back tmr) for $100 more than i was gonna buy it for   :flame: :flame: :flame:

Sorry to hear that. Pontiac and Olds are completley different engines.

ok i was unsure i know towards the end they were the same but yeah...

and btw. the guy is buying it simply to crush it, i was gonna make the thing a daily

it was a sleeper haha its actually the same car i posted about a long time ago...
but wether it was true "muscle" or not i was gonna save somethin american now its back to my half mitsubishi/half mopar Acclaim  ::)
