I got a hold of some unused BFG Drag radials  295/65 for the rear and I put them up to my wheel well and it looked so much bigger than the 255/65 I have on the charger. Has any one used this size tire before and have any problems with rubbing?  by the way the rims are 15x 8 1/2

Yep, they fit with the right wheel combo. R2 is using them on his 69r/t with weld 15x8"s with 4.5in backspace. I'll be running the same combo on my car.

If you don't use them, let me know. I am looking for some new tires for my Charger.

I run 295 50's out back in my 68.  but on 16" wheels.  So you should have no problem running 65 series on 15" wheels.  Stock wheel wells, no rolled lips, no nothing.  wheels are 8" wide with 4.5" backspace

It's pretty typical to see 295/50s for street use on the Chargers. A 65 will obviously be taller than a 50 series.

dkn1997

I have 295/50's on my 68 and they fit like a glove with a 4.5" backspace.

That's with a 16" wheel.  with 15's no problem.  with the right backspace, I could have gotten 305/50's in there.  I don't even know if the make such an animal, but....

I think r2 had 315s on his '69 at one point.

The old tires were 325/50/15 which are 28in tall/13in wide. The new tires are 295/65's which are 29.5in tall/12.5in wide and really fill up the wheel well, vertically and horizontally. The 29.5in tire diameter is about as big as you can go w/o having to modify the wheel well. They rub front and back if the diameter is too big and require some clearancing.

I tried bolting on a set of 30inch et streets on mine and it was a no-go.

my car has 275/60/15 MT drag radials and they dont rub but i have super stock springs. with the stock springs they would get close to the fender. I could have also utilized the almost 2 inches between tire and spring though.

Ryan

I have 325 50's and have unmodified wheel wells. I would sure think those tires would fit fine.

firefighter,
will a 295/65 fit a 2nd gen charger without SS springs

Mefirst

I run 325/50 Racemaster Drag Radials on my baby.. 10" rim with 5" of backspacing, fitment is perfect, there is also about 1" of space on both sides of the tire inside the wheelwell. Springs are the SS springs...

I don't see why not. If a 325/50 fits than there's lots of room for a 295/65. Of course it helps to have the correct backspacing. With a 15x8 and 4.5in backspace you'll be fine.

My problem is I'm addicted to raised white letter tires and with BFG the biggest RWL tire is the 295/50.

1973dodgecharger

i have 295's on the back of  my '73 charger and they have like a foot or two to move up and down, but mine is shakeled up and has air shocks so...yeah.

I really can't remember who's car this is but I have these pics in a '325' folder.I think I got these from Chryco but again not sure.

Would those 295/65/15's fit with a 15x8.5 wheel with 5 inches of backspace (American Vectors)?

Anybody have any pictures of 295/65/15's on their car yet?

PS
Those 325/50/15's look badass, but I'm guessing there's nothing safe about stuffing those onto 15x8.5 Amiercan Vectors (not wide enough).  Thanks.
