Forget the stock paint scheme for a bit. Anyone got some AAR Cuda and T/A Challenger pics with them in their racing outfits? I found a few...

Thanks! Great pictures. Did they use 2nd gen Barracudas for the Trans Am races too?

Ghoste

I want to say yes but right now I'm having trouble finding a pic of one.  I have apic of a 1st gen Barracuda in a Tran-Am race but 67-69 were scarce years for Chrysler.  The rules changed in 1970 to allow destroked engines to meet the 305 limit but prior to that it had to actually displace that.  The 273 was the closest Mopar had to meeting the rules and when Ford and GM jumped in with their factory teams in 1967 and purpose built 302 engines it made it hard for Mopars.

bull

I thought I'd seen some first gens but not second. Seems like they would be a good size for that type of racing.

Something dawned on me while looking at these pics and videos. I still don't like seeing classic cars getting wrecked but I really, really enjoy seeing them getting the piss driven out of them! :icon_smile_big:

Ghoste

I'm still looking.  I can find race results that show Barracudas participating during the 2nd gen bodystyle but the results don't list the model year of the entry so it doesn't really mean anything (unless someone can say for sure that it had to be a current year bodystyle to compete).

Brock Samson

Somewhat off the TA/AAR target - but lots of pics. exist of Cudas participating in Rally events...

Yes, I know, it's the wrong year clone :slap:

Troy

I think he meant real AAR and T/A race cars (ie road race cars).

I asked several people at the Monster Mopar show this week why so many people paint up their drag race cars in AAR and T/A paint schemes. Seems silly to me. That car with the blower doesn't know what it wants to be.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I got some since I restored one.  Would have to scan old 35mm pics though. LEON.
