Where or what is a good guage to use for setting float level and drop on your themoquad?? thanks

Ghoste

I don't think float drop is adjustable in the Thermoquad but I have heard of guys tweaking it for performance use by bending the arm a little so that the float won't drop quite as far.  I'm sure someone somewhere has figured out a measurable amount for "quite as far" but anyone I've heard of doing it just kind of guessed. (or so they said)
As for the float setting, what is the application?  The fsm for a 71 340 shows it as 1.00 from the edge of the float to the edge of the bowl cover with the gasket in place.  That adjustment is the same way, by bending the arm.

demonsizzler sets all carbs to 29/32" from floater up to top plate with gasket, bending arm.

however there are several setups...

29/32"
31/32"
1"
1 1/16"

I think Vaans Guide has the setup for lot of carbs... if not, I have a rebuilt kit with instructions and a LONG LIST of Carbs what I can give yoy all the settings needed for a correctly set up for your TQ

Every motors manual, and chilton manual I look at shows setting float level and float drop, so i don't need to worry about float drop unless in looks in excess

Nacho should know, he has done few TQ's I think.  What are they specifying for a float drop in those manuals?

I have had busy to check, but give me the TQ model you are working on and will check if I have ALL the values to set that carb on the rebuilt instruction sheet I have. ( it covers around 50 TQ carbs )

float drops ? dunno what is that but all TQ instruction sheets says set floaters with top plate upside down and let it rest on needle, measuring from top of floater to top plate WITH gasket

here we have an example:
