Picked up a new Daily Driver...

Hey guys -

Picked up a new daily driver this weekend - got a 2006 SRT8 Magnum w/ 24k on the clock and so far so good. Drove it home from GA to NYC and the thing is honestly a blast. I was also able to manage 21 mpg hwy, with the cruise set at 75mph... not too bad considering it's a 425hp station wagon. The previous owner put a cat-bak exhaust on it which I am removing in favor of stock - I need this be "somewhat" quiet. I've been driving old stuff for so long that I'd forgotten how good the new stuff really is - it's good though as it will help achieve some new goals for the new builds.

Cheers  - Mike

I think it needs a second gen body transplant if possible. That way you could have the best of both worlds.

Mike, do you have the stock exhaust already.  I have the suitcase and the rear mufflers as well. They are off my 08 Chally(SRT-8 as you already know :2thumbs:). I chopped that exhaust up and put Dynomax Ultras on there.
You are more than welcome to have them and all you'll need to do is weld in a couple pieces here and there I'm sure.

If not you can always go to chargertalk.com or challengertalk.com.  You can usually find stock exhausts on there pretty cheap. Let me know if you want to see pics of what I have. The diference is these are free and no shipping.  :icon_smile_big:
I've been looking for an excuse to get to the city to take some pictures and would be happy to drive a few minutes out of the way and drop them somewhere for you. I'll also be passing through on the 9th heading to Virginia.

I also dig the Magnum! I've seen a few around here and always look at it and go man, I could put a heck of a sound system in there!
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

NYCMille

Hey Dude...

I do actually have the entire rear exhaust. Just have to re-weld a new flange on the front right and I should be good to go. I would actually like to see any pics you have of the install though. If you're coming up here on the 9th maybe we can meet up, just shoot me a PM with your schedule.

mikepmcs

Mike, I'm actually just flying by on the 9th on the way to Virginia but wouldn't mind saying howdy over a bagel or sumthin'  If you would have needed the exhaust I could have made a trip down there on the 3rd and dropped em off ran around the city and then jetted back up here. Hope that all made sense(i rarely do though so forgive me)
I plan on leaving my house around 0230-0300 on the 9th which puts me in the city close to 0800. No pressure though.... that is pretty early to be all friendly and stuff. LOL  But sure wouldn't mind saying hey!

I do have pictures of my exhaust getting chopped I just need to find them and I'll send them to your email.

Very nice.  My '05 has been my daily since new and has been a blast to drive.  Very comfortable on a long drive and will move out when needed. Am running a Magnaflow cat-back and I like it. Only a standard R/T with the 5.7 Hemi though.  A few pics:

Hey Mike, I'll just post the pics of the exhaust mutilation you wanted to see here if you don't mind. All pics are from my cell phone so they suck. :icon_smile_big:

post some burnout pics :)

Congrats Mike. Nice score on a soon to be collector Mopar.  Any plans for it?
Holly's bone stock SRT8 before he sold it.  Unloaded the luggage & golf clubs & ran low 13's at infineon.

NYCMille

HEY BUZZ!

Why do I have a feeling that both you and Holly can't leave anything stock for long...

Mike - Thanks for the pics man - and you kept the resonators... SMART - you kept the resonators, mine is just way to loud without them.

Road Dog

Nice Ride. I think only 1500 or so of the 06's were made.
If your wheels ain't spinn'n you ain't got no traction.

472 R/T SE

Yeah sweet ride.

Mine's an '05 R/T.  Almost got a red SRT w/ 40k miles from my Mom's dealership but getting it up here would have sucked.

Any other current mods' besides the exhaust that you might wanna trade out?  Luckily mine was still bone stock.

Mike, I'll answer that when you install Greg's Mini-Gun on the Daytona...(LOL).  He's anxiously awaiting your arrival.  Holly sold the Magnum, but just got an 08 B5 Superbee 6.1 & is planning a Joey Arrington 440 Stroker Hemi.  At least it'll still look stock...
