Recently my brother gave me the 1st and 2nd seasons of Dukes of Hazzard TV show on DVD on my birthday ( sept 17 ). It was nice from him. I remember allmost everyone of the chapters, but is nice to have it.

On the fist season case, on last DVD they added an aniversary BBQ scene. It was really nice how everyone was ther BUT TOM WOPAT... does somebody knows why he is not there?!

I believe Tom in general prefers to distance himself from the series.  From what I have been led to understand, it isn't because he is embarrassed about the show but he doesn't want the rest of his acting carreer defined by it.  I understand he does a lot of Broadway.
I maybe 100% wrong though.

well if thats right, a good actor shouldn't need to get worry about that.

Al Pacino isn't defined just by RAINMAN, for example

beside that, IT WAS JUTS A BBQ LOL.

I agree they shouldn't have to worry but typecasting has always been a challenge for actors and very much especially those who find fame in a television situation comedy.
Oh and it wasn't Pacino in Rainman my friend, it was Hoffman.  But along those lines, is it easy to picture Dustin Hoffman doing something like "Scarface"? (which was Pacino)

I daresay Wopat's acting talents are more akin to Robert Reed than Robert Redford.  Hence his reluctance to affiliate with the Dukes and avoid typecasting...

Back N Black

John has been holding on to Dukes for the past 20 years because he has nothing else.  :Twocents:

Yeah, I think he likes it too though.  He seems to like cars to a degree as well.

The line between Schnieder and Bo Duke has always been blurry at best.

As for Wopat, it's also worth pointing out that he didn't finish the same show that he originally signed up for.

He signed up for a scruffy Bandit-inspired show in rural 1978 Georgia.  He gradually ended up on a cheesy G-rated toy seller in 1985 Los Angeles.  Wopat was probably the least suited to the show's later direction out of anyone on the cast.

Which makes me wonder if he was the driving force behind he and John leaving for a season?

I think that may have been partly a cumulative thing as well.

The conditions of that show were fun but the cast/crew didn't always get much respect from the studio.

Wopar, Schnieder, Sorrel Booke, Jimmy Best, Denver Pyle, Ben Jones . . .  all these people went on temporary strikes from that series at one time or another, and for a lot of similar reasons.  Some of the strikes were just settled much more quietly/quickly than others.

I believe Tom could not get away because of this duties on Broadway.
