Whenever I floor the gas pedal, I accel smoothly, untill about 30 mph, then, it starts to sputter a little.  Could this be due to me STILL not getting my timing exactly right, or, might this be another problem?
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

What kind of carb do you have? Did you recently upgrade it? I had this problem when I put my vacuum secondary 4 barrel on...I had to replace the springs with some that were just a tad bit more stiff and the problem cleared right up.

Chryco Psycho

it could be overadvancing , try disconnecting the vacuum advance to see if ti changes

Plugged fuel filter or a weak fuel pump are possibilities
