Have any of you been "followed" while...

I was just curious as to if any of the members here have been "followed" by someone while driving your Charger, and if so, what did you do?

It happens to me every once in a while, as I'm out and about for a spin in my Charger.  Now that's not to say I'm spending more time in my rear-view mirror that looking out front to see if that car is following me- rather, I'd much prefer whoever is following me to NOT tail me all the way to my garage for obvious reasons.

Whenever this happens to me, I simply pull into a public place, like a gas station or some place like "Sonic" where there are lots of people.  Most of the time, these folks approach me apologetically- knowing I knew they were on my tail, as they were simply interested in looking at a classic MoPar and mean no harm. 

I think the best approach is, no doubt, a cautious one, set in a public place as I mentioned before.  Have any of you folks been in similar situations?  If you have, how did you handle the situation and what was the result?

Recently some guy backed into my driveway and was staring at my car while hanging out of his driver side window.   I asked him if he needed some help (not in a nice tone of voice) and he said he was just turning around.   He proceeded to leave after that.   Some people...

i do the same thing,if someone is following me,i usually pull into a convienence store,gas station,etc. most people are polite enough to say hello,i like your car,cool ride. when its a cop following me i always pull into a well lit,public place also,you never know what they want!

You never know when they'll ask you to "lift and separate".

I've been followed a couple times and mormally I just keep driving on. There was one case this past summer where I didnt. I was coming hoem from a buddies house around 2:00 am (25 min. drive home) and I was almost home (19 at the time) and It was a 3 lane  highway . I was in the middle lane minding my own business doin the Limit at 65 and this late 90's Ram pulls up right beside me and it's like a 50 yr ol man . he shoots me this weird look it's hard to describe , not like a mad one , maybe disgruntled or something. about a mile later or so later he speeds up and keeps looking back at me from the side. from there he actually slows down and gets right behind me and follows me for awhile longer. by this time he's been following me for at least 5 miles. so from there I got in the next lane ( Far left lane) and I put it down from there went to about 80-85 and didnt see him after that. Didnt want to risk him following any longer , I dont know what the hell he could have been thinking

The first year I had the General I had people follow me all the time. I would also have people see the car in the garage and pull up in the driveway and walk right into the garage. I didn't like that to much.

I have had people follow me all the way to my house, and pull up in my driveway. I don't mind it. I invite them into the garage to have a look around, and chit chat with them about cars. Usually its someone else who is into Mopars or has a Charger or something along those lines. Other times its someone who say they used to have a Charger just like my 500.
Call me mean but I have been known to see a Charger or other Mopar in a person's garage when the door is up, so then I'll stop and ask if I can see the car. Sometimes people are nice, other times people want you to leave. I have found though that if you are driving say the Charger then people are about 99 times more likely to let you check out their cars.

I have seriously been followed twice.  I dont like it at all.  Especially the time it happened at night.  I dont want anyone following me to my door.  Good thing is, there are plenty of country roads around my house that I know perfectly.  Neither person kept up very long.

because shooting an ak-47 is a sure fire way to scare someone into calling the cops and having your ass arrested.

I got followed once, but I knew it was a 'car guy'! I looked in my review mirror and saw a nice '70 two door fury following me. I pulled off the road and he followed.............we talked Mopar for some time after that. Now had it been a none classic car I would nat have even thought about doing that.

You can't be serious....why do you even talk sometimes? I don't know wether to laugh at the absurdity or shake my head...or both.

When I was driving my '56 Chevy pick-up and it was cherry I had people always getting next to me...sometimes too close which can be scary. Once had a cop pull me over just to look under the hood. Another time I had a CHP catch me doing 80mph. He got next to me and I thought for sure I was in BIG trouble. He was a CHP in a new 5.0 Mustang and he pointed forward for me to race him. I shook my head no and he grabbed his ticket pad and waved it at me, so I slightly stepped on it and so did he, so I gunned it and he did too. I shut it down when the truck started to feel unstable and he kept his foot in it and wasted me. About 1/4 mile later he rolls back next to me with a thumbs up. I pointed to my speedo and shrugged...didn't know how fast I had gone. He puts his fingers up ONE, ONE, THREE...113mph - not bad for an old pick-up.  Right about then I freaked out...I couldn't believe I just raced a CHP....and DIDN'T get a ticket.

It's funny how people act when they see a nice old car...

I got followed a few weeks ago by a cop.  I raced him to the off ramp.  Of course I knew the guy and he was driving his 70 R/T so maybe that shouldn't count.

I get followed all the time and whenever I park my car people flock to it. Mind you it is the Blade Trinity Charger. I rarely drive it. The best times are when I take my kids to school in it. In a world of SUV's it kinda  stands out. The car is so loud it is sometimes hard to hear what people are saying as they pull up to me on the highway. I usually smile and punch it. That always gets a laugh! Cheers!

I had a very similar experience a few years ago.  I was driving along nicely in the Charger when a late model Mustang came flying up behind me and then kind of hung in there.  I found it annoying so I sped up a little.  The Mustang sped up and stayed right on my ass so I sped up some more.  The Mustang repeated so this time I stood on it.  The Mustang was left far behind but very shortly I came to a stop sign.  As I looked in my rearview, I see the Mustang racing up behind me and now I see he's activated his optional grille mounted lighting system.  Terrific.  So I pull around the corner and over to the shoulder and as the Ford comes up behind me, I notice there is a young cop driving and an older one in the passenger seat and the older guy is shaking his head and waving his hand in a forward push on type of motion.  As they go by me, I can see the young cop looks po'd and the older guy gave me the thumbs up.

It's obvious that you have no tact, otherwise you'd know that certain things aren't meant to be joked about. For instance: pulling out AK47 to scare someone isn't really considered a joke or funny by anyone other than someone who's a little disturbed...

Not getting the joke wasn't the problem.  The problem was, it wasn't even CLOSE to being funny.  In fact, it killed all the funny in the room, it was so bad.



I've never been followed, but I HAVE tried to follow, once.  I seen a nice black 68 at a stoplight, heading the other way, so I tried to turn around, and follow it.  I hoped to be able to catch it at a red light, and pull next to it, and say hi to the owner.  Couldn't get turned around fast enough, though.

   Dude.   I did get followed one time for a very long time...   I went through these "Terrorism Awareness" classes that stuck in my head, and I was fresh out of the military...   First and foremost, they tought you to keep alert, and always watch the rear-view, so this became habit... So I notice this guy in a Black Sedan following me for some time...   After noticing him, I kept making new turns in a circle, and he still followed.   This was when I had my first '69, I spun it around and questioned him.   Spun it around in a Very Violent fashion...   (Part of that course was a BSR Anti-Terrorist Driving Course).   Unfortunatley that class had too much classtime, and not enought practical application, so I enjoyed the "appiication"...   Our training was done in gutless Japanese Sedans meant to be mini-limos for dignitaries.   Needless to say, this guy was scared crap-less...

  I had a CHP run-in and so did my best friend in my '69...   One was my buddy doing 80 in a 45 Christmas Eve, and CHP I.D.ed him, and told him Merry Christmas...  

  Second was me Doing some Insane Speed down Hwy 152 coming from the bay toward Fresno Ca...   I think I was going about 120-125 according to my GPS (which has been Verrry accurate, and gives "high speeds" for the day)...   I often drove over 100 after I got out of the military, and I realize it was EXTREMLEY stupid.   I saw him from afar in the opposite lane, but we were devided, I quickly let off gas, and then dropped it into 2nd...   Letting off the gas, has a pretty good effect, but I had to pray to God I didn't destroy my drivetrain when dropping the gear at about 95ish (I'd guess)...   She has highway gears, but boy did she SCREAM Like a stuck pig...  Suddenly I see a HUGE plume of DIRT getting kicked-up as this CHP thrashed his poor 5.0 in the median to come-about.   He drove up behind me, and sat at my driver's side rear, as if drafting...   What seemed to be 10 miniutes passed, and he just SAT there...   I was FROZEN stiff.   He pulled-up a little, gave the thumbs-up, and then took-off...   I was in shock.   Still un-believeable I wasn't in a jail cell that evening...

Enough of the man stories.  Has anyone ever been followed by some hot chicks and what happened?

When a cop's following me I usually pull in the first gas station or public parking lot I see and most of the time they will keep on riding. They are usually just waiting for me to mess up so they can bust me for something.  Pulling over before they have the chance really bugs them. I saw a city cop pull a U turn right behind me as I pulled out on the highway once and I pulled in to Texaco before he could get on me or hit the lights. I parked by a pump and got out quickly and he pulled up.
He said something about seatbelts and I told him I had lapbelts.  He said Oh ok and drove off. Never mentioned why he pulled the quick u trun behind me.

When random people follow me I usually pull in a parking lot and wait in the car with the engine running and in drive. Most of the time they just compliment the car or ask if I wanna race them But I don't take any chances.

The other kind of stalker is the one that stays on the bumper and tries to get you to race them. Doesn't  matter what POS their driving, they are gonna try to get you to race them.
I just ignore them. I'm not getting a ticket over some idiot with a little pecker and something to prove.
