I have a 73 charger. It was a 440/727 to start with. Changed to a new trans and engine this summer. The driveshaft yolk would not slide in all the way. I removed the tailshaft housing, and could not see any forgien matter on the shaft, or in the yolk. Are there different shaft diameters? It seemed back in the day when me and the buddies made swaps, everything went so smootly, HELP!!! USSDODGE.

All 727 output shafts are the same diameter and spline.

If the slip yoke is brand new it might be a manufacturing defect, there have been many reports of new yokes not fitting.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

are the splines on the trans twisted? Did you try the yoke on the trans with the tail housing off? And in the bushing also while it was removed?
