Rear Leaf Spring Setup

Hello all,

Some time in my b-bodys life somone has cut the rear leaf spring shackles and lenthened them. The back of the leaf springs now hang lower and I guess this pushed the body up in the air. What benefit does this have if any, other then the look of the car? The reason I ask is because I struggle to get traction but am unsure if this is why.

Whats the best tyre for street/strip use and can anyone recomend a size.

440 10.5cr, indy heads & intake, cam the usual
3.73 gears
3000rpm stall
