Im thinking of boxing my front frame rails before I install my floorpan has anyone ever done this or is it even possible

Troy

They're boxed by the floor pan right?

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Yeah, it would make no sense to "box" the rails on a unibody?  :shruggy:

Rolling_Thunder

do you mean weld pieces across the width of the rails every foot or so ?

It occurred to me when I had the front floor up on my '69.  But I didn't ultimately do it.

The floor boxes the tops of those rails pretty well to begin with.  You won't see any measurable difference making that area thicker.

When it comes to frames, there's really only a gain from fixing the floppiest few areas where the flexing is actually occurring.  Anything else is basically just reinforcing links in the chain that aren't the weakest ones.
