I finally came across the big block 440 that i have been looking for.   A 440 hp engine ( 1969 ) with matching (1969) 727 auto.  It is suppose to have under 70k miles and is all there minus carb.    hopefully this winter that's what ill be working on instead of recovering seats.      Ill try to take pictures this weekend.

If anyone has any advice about going from a 318 904 to a 440 727 id lov  to hear what the comments are !   :2thumbs:

400/6/PAC

I went from 318/904 to 400/727
Didn't have much problems, I did have to use different motor mounts and the drive shaft had to be cut, welded and balanced.
The 727 has a longer tail piece making the drive shaft too long.

400/6/PAC

I don't remember how much I had to cut off the drive shaft.
It wasn't a lot but still had to be done.

beware the sleeper

yeah, i looked it up, its 2 inches shorter, going to a 727 auto

im going to get the 40 years of funk off it and look further, but did verify that it is  a 69 hp and just made the purchase that much better!

any body ever use the the intake from one, is it worth using?

It's considered one of the best factory intakes. I'm putting one back on my car.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Congrats on scoreing your '69 HP 440!  :2thumbs:
I used the Schumaker solid motor mounts - no more broken motor mounts which can (and did) happen.
The Mini Race starter which I shielded with some Hi Heat wrap. No starter heat sink problems since.
The TTI headers though you didn't mention if your going back as stock as possible.
I went for as stout as possible.
If you have the time you might want to plan for spending some time in the engine bay between having the motors in there.
So did the motor come with all the externals or not?  :popcrn:
