Found this in a parking garage today.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  Real nice car.  It looks like a cutlass from the front, but is called a Starfire.  Neat swooping back window with chrome trim that follows the lines. 66/67ish?
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Ghoste

I think that is a 66, the last year for the fullsize Starfires.  The name reappeared in the 70's on a smaller car but for a while there in the early 60's it was an Oldsmobile big dog.  Wish the brand was still around, I miss them almost as much as I miss Plymouth.

I just love old Oldsmobiles.

I still consider finding a '66 Toronado for a daily driver...fortunately I don't drive very far daily!

My brother has sinned. He sold me his charger and bought a cutlass. He did try to redeam his self and buy the charger back but the new owner won't budge.

I was weaned on Oldsmobiles but the sixties hold no interest for me, only the fifties have that allure. Here's a pic of the '50 that I picked up a couple of years ago, a near clone of the one i drove when i was eighteen.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

At our last cruise in, this was one of the cars that was our club pick.  As a matter of fact, none of the club picked cars were Mopes.

I really like the Ford fast back that's on the back side of it as well.

Hey Dennis, what's the story on the red fender wells with the silver car & not the white one?

Were they an option for any model?

I always thought that only Pontiac got them.  :shruggy:

greenpigs

The red fenderwells were standard on W30 cars. Not sure if you could get them any other way.

nope only available on the w-30 cars . :icon_smile_big:

The70RT

They started that in 66 I believe and up to 72 but not all 72 w-30 cars had the red inner fender wells, most have black fender wells.
The early 72 w-30's got the red fender wells, early in the 72 year GM ran out of red fender wells then started using black on the w-30's.
I guess they used up what they had and didn't want to produce any more red wells with the change of the body style coming up for 1973 since HP went way down.

So what about the silver car.  It's not a W-30 car correct?

You could only get the W-30 package on 442's. They also had a W-31 package that had all the options as the 442 W-30 ( air induction, suspension, stripes etc.) but you got a 350 instead of a 455. You could only get that on the F-85 or Cutlass S models.  Another unique thing is in 1970 there were 3 different front grilles.
