I didn't exactly have the best birthday weekend:

What happened? Well, my brother (some of you have met him) has a lot of anger control issues and when it's combined with alcohol, the problem is further exacerbated. I went over to my mom's house on saturday to pick up a package that was mailed there for me. Anyway, out of nowhere he confronted me about something that happened a few months ago and that as far as I was concerned, was all water under the bridge.

When I refused to go along with his BS, he got really pissed. Rather than letting things get out of hand in front of my mom and sister, I decided to leave. He wouldn't have it, so he followed me out and got in my face. I told him if he wanted to talk about it we would, but when he calmed down and wasn't drunk. This angered him even more, because when I got in my car to leave he ran around and smashed the back window with his bare hand (and the picture shows the results).  Long story short, I didn't call the cops right away but I did file a report. Hate to do it because he's my brother, but it's for his own good.

For the time being, I'm out $400 (yes kids...that's how much replacing the back window costs). I'm gonna make him pay me for it one way or another...even if I have to break into his room, take some of his stuff, and pawn it or sell it.

This is pretty personal stuff and I usually don't publicly share this sort of thing...but most of you guys are like family anyway.  :yesnod:

Well, you handled it pretty good. I probably would have took the 400 out of my bro's ass right then. Maybe when you get back up with him (when sober, of course) maybe he'll step-up, be a man, and pay you what he owes you.

Bummer about the window, but happy birthday.

One thing I learned a looooong time ago, never tell a drunk you'll talk to them after they've calmed down & were sober.   :smilielol:

yep..

BTW - thanks to the hefty supply of Mr Angry stickers you hooked me up with when I met you at Bob's Big Boy, I won't have to scramble to replace the one I had on the car.  :2thumbs:

when did your mom move to Alabama and damn those Mustang Back windows are pricey!

Your a better man than I am....Once the window got broke....I would've gotten out and beaten him into unconciousness...leaving him lying in a pool of his own blood and urine......but...that's me....

believe me...the only reason I didn't get out and handle it right then and there was because I didn't want my mom and my sister (who were already freaking out as it were) to see something like that.

Seriously, your brother must hang out with Kanye West!

Sorry to hear that!  I know the feeling.  I grew up with a older brother that was violent and also a drunk.  It tears a family apart.  Bob

Sorry to hear that, but I would not be as calm about it..... family or not, he would be feeling more than his hand the next day.

dkn1997

that's rough enough if it's a friend, but when it's your brother that's really gotta hurt.  that word brother means more to me than almost any word I know.  I can't imagine even arguing with one of them.

you also got hosed on the window replacement.  Mr. angry stickers would have easily covered that and certainly would have been cheaper.

Damn Germ.  That blows!

Glad you didn't confront him, if he did that to the back window, I hate to think what he would have done to your face.

Never, ever, ever, ever get the police involved in a trivial family property dispute.  You will likely regret it (but I hope it all works out okay).  Kim

Alcohol and anger are never a good mix. You did the right thing, mom knows that one son can handle himself. Trust me it means A LOT to us moms. One steadfast rule in our household was mess with the man...never the mans car. He punched something he knows you care about. It is NEVER easy to live with a drunk...one moment they're fine the next insane...sorry bout your window.

We can safely assume he's not a happy drunk I guess.

That takes me back to when me and my brother used to hate each other's guts growing up. We used to tear the house apart fighting, when we were teenagers I knocked him through the dining room wall   We both almost got put out that night.   Now that were older we get along fine, maybe it's just the law of nature that siblings have to compete and fight. :shruggy:

That being said, if my brother ever touches my car, a beat down is in order  :flame:

I think when his birthday comes around, you need to buy him his first visit to therapy.

save the broken window for the intervention.   no , really, sorry that had to happen.  I regret the times my brother and I argued,

we can't all be like these guys,  (thank god)

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

That was a stand up thing to do bro. I know your mom & sis are proud of you......and your brother has to live with the shame of what he did in front of them. They will never forget that.

I hope your bro gets the help he needs.
