i was out in my charger on sunday and i noticed a slight problem, whilst in drive and coming to a complete stop,i noticed the gearbox change down sharply about 6 feet before i stopped, its never done this before, there is plenty of oil in the box and none of the gears are slipping and its working perfect in every other way,any ideas what coud be wrong?

Not something I'd worry about if it's a singular event. If it continues, I'd probably drive it until something more definitive shows up. Could be a gummed or damaged governor...don't know a lot of specifics on Mopar automatics.

Is the Gear Vendors hooked up in the automatic mode? If so are you sure it wasn't a delayed downshift in the GV unit?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

i turned off the gear vendor and the same thing happens,i think i might change the oil in the vendor and do a filter and oil change in the box as a starting point and go from there,i m taking my mate to his wedding on saturday in it,so i m hoping it does nt break down.

i noticed yesterday that the spring off the kickdown linkage is MIA,would this cause the problem?

if the spring is off the linkage and the linkage is moved back yes it can. The trans would think there is more throttle being applied so it would hold the gear until the governor pressure drops low enough to force it to downshift.
