After looking for a long time for a 71 or 72 roadrunner or gtx, restored ones and projects,I learned again that I would have to buy it as a project as every one"finished"I looked at I found something I did'nt like and would be cleaning up,or changing,or rebuilding, etc,so like I need another project car like I need a hole in my head, one popped up that I could'nt pass on.
  A 72 Roadrunner GTX,B5 blue,white canopy,white stripe,white int,fact air grabber,auto,tach,perf axle package,and more.As I learned about these cars for 71 it was either a Roadrunner or a GTX,but for 72 there was Roadrunner which was  available with either a 340 or 400.If you wanted a 440 it now became a Roadrunner GTX.With this ,the production figures are low, 219 4speeds and 453 auto's.
Mine was being advertised as numbers matching, solid orig car needing a resto, runs and drives.Sounds great, when asked if he verified it being matching numbers,he said on the pad it shows H 440 HP ,and doesn't appear the engine was ever out.He also did'nt check the numbers on the tranny, which was out for a rebuild back when, but did say if it was matching numbers,it did go back in.O.K,now it is up in the air.
He did pull a correct broadcast sheet from under the rear seat, and had the original window sticker!!!!!The car was very solid, real nice trunk and floors, frame rails, window channels, etc.Itis going to need a better trunk lid, driv door and pass fender.Importantly all the air grabber stuff is there and works!!!!!The expensive 72 grill is mint.Needless to say,the car came home with me.
Once home,I put it up on the lift to get a better look at things and finish off the final inspections on the car,and to my suprise it is both motor and tranny numbers matching!!!!!!Totally satisfied with this purchase!!!!

KILLER find, Paul!!!

I had a '71 Road Runner (err... a clone, really a Satellite Sebring) back in the late '80's in high school. I sold it to buy my '70. Not a day goes by that I don't think about that car. I loved that one.

Can't wait to see this RR someday!

I think the N-96 Fresh air option was the coolest invention for 3rd gen mopars!  Great find.

I just stumbled across a '72 GTX as well today....kinda thinking about picking it up even though it is a total project. It is a factory 440, 4-spd car though, verified through the fender tag. Unfortunately the Dana is gone  :'( I'm going to take a closer look at it tomorrow....thing is I have no idea what they are worth in todays market? Seems like the '71-up B-body projects don't bring much these days.

GN

Great to see another mopar getting the TLC it deserves.
