Well, I'm going with the six pack instead of the 4618S I got for now.... I've always owned a six pack car and well, it's time for the Daytona. It may not be dealer-installed, but it's Troy-installed..  :icon_smile_big:
I still have some detailing and "stuff" to do, but everything's pretty much in line....

440 six pack + 4:10 Dana = FUN !!!

Surgeon warning: Excessive speeds on the highway NOT happening is a side-effect (until overdrive unit is purchased)

This Daytona has had all three carb configurations: 440 4bbl, 440 6bbl (now) and 426 Hemi when it was in England with Pete.

1: 426 Hemi when in England
2. 440 4bbl when I got it and originally
3. 440 six pack, hopefully everything should work good. The setup worked great when I had it on my C500.

it's the aluminum version, the one I've had since,,, ohhhhhhh, '89..... The coolant overheating situation is good-to-go.. I'm fine-tuning the engine compartment heat. I think I'll make headway with the new setup......

Looks great.  So it is a Hemi Daytona, or had a Hemi in it at one time?  Did you have the opportunity to buy it with the Hemi?  That car could have a 6cyl in it and it would matter.  :drool5:
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Might want to see about getting some new metering plates for the outboard carbs. ProMax has plates which accept standard Holley jets to allow you to tune the top end mixture without having to  over richen the center carb.

They usually have a "show special" on them at Monster Mopar.

PM me if interested.

I like that idea.

Thanks for the idea. I know which plates you're referring to. With the OEM setup and reproduction cam, the outboards will be fine. This is the same setup I had on Dana and Whitey for nearly 20 years and never had an issue. With me, simplicity is key and I prefer to be as stock as possible. These beasts made enough torque as it is.....

:2thumbs: Thanks again.....

Troy its looking really good. Glad that you finally got that elusive wing car and that you are enjoying it. One of these days , one of these days.

Looking forward to seeing the car down there in Talladega.

Thanks Danny and all......... I'll surely be there.. I'll finish up this six pack and then, it's done drivetrain-wise. Don't want any surprises right before the big event..... I hope there's a 4:10-bunch on the trips to the track..  ;D  Either that, we'll all be at the tailend of the pack...

I could leave the 4.10 gears in the 500 and poke along with ya, but I'm thinking of putting 2.76 gears in it for that trip down.

I'll get some pics and a video when the little details are done, but she lives with a six pack......  :icon_smile_big:

Yeah, some six pack burnout videos. :2thumbs:

Here's another pic with the proper fuel line and the tranny carb/tranny kick-down rods I modified to work on a six pack. Luckily I had pictures of my former v-code '70 Charger R/T on hand (By the way, the car's on ebay now in Ill...) I have the crankcase vent hose to get since it'll be longer than the original 4bbl hose. It basically has to wrap from the back of the air cleaner, around the rear of the intake, through the throttle cable bracket and to the crankcase filler. The, I need to get another long washer bottle hose from the bottle to the 't' on the cowl. I also need to touch up some paint and install the solenoid wire bracket... Will take her out in a little bit to see how those 4:10's like that 6bbl up front...

Cheers,
Troy

The 4.10's will like the six pac set up for sure, but will the pocket book. Because I'm thinking that at a nice cruising speed of say 70 mph won't all 6 bbl be opened up? If you were to keep it down to a slower cruising speed of say 60 mph or so, you would really have a nice calming drive over to Talladega.

mauve66

just plug the  vacuum port so the outers don't open and drive the distance on 2 bbls, save alot of fuel

Naw - 65-70 with a 4.10 will keep it in the center carb.......unless you have 14" tires - then it gets a little dicey!

hemi68charger

At the risk of bending to the peer pressure imposed by all of you, I'm trailering it. It's going to be bad enough with the two trips to Talladega in her from Alexander City, but to drive from Houston with 4:10's? No thanks.......  :nana:

Ah come on, I'll drive my C500 down from Indy with the 4.10 gears in it if it makes you feel any better. :) And that is with 14" tires.
