What is the car you always wanted as a teen and now have no desire to ever own?

Sorry young guns this question won't apply much to you but for some of the older people on here, is there a car you always thought you wanted some day when you were younger and now you just think there is no way I would want one?
For me personally it's the Countach.  I thought they were great until I drove one, now it would be one of the last cars I would ever want to own.

Charger440RDN

For me it would have to be the Trans-Am from Knight Rider I was sure it was the coolest car in the world when I was 9 years old round about 1985  :D  Now there is no way in hell I would want that piece of crap, or even want to be seen in one.   Of course the General Lee was my first favorite TV car and I still love Chargers, go figure  :shruggy:

A mustang 2 cobra. Back in the early 90's I wanted one and now not so much.

Go Hogs Go

96-97 blue/white Viper GTS. This car was my dream car in junior high, and has turned out to be my Elanor. Every time I tried to buy one something didn't work out. I finally landed one in May of this year, was driving it on the 4th of July when a pop up shower came up, hydro plained doing 50 mph on a overpass, backed it into a bridge rail, spun across the median and almost went into the other lane of traffic. That 1 of 900 car got totalled and almost took me out with it. I don't care if I ever see another one.

The Countach was always one of my favorites too.

Of course I know I'll never get or drive one, but I remember a funny story involving my Satellite convertible & cutting one off in traffic.   I was in the middle lane of a 3 lane highway (Rte. 17 in Paramus, NJ) & changed lanes to pass a slower car. I looked in my mirror, saw nothing & then moved to the left lane. Once I was in the left lane, I suddenly noticed just the roof line of a Countach that was right on my rear bumper that had come from out of nowhere.  :o  This guy had to have been really flying to get on my tail that quickly. I don't care if the car can handle well, but in a congested area during rush hour, you're an idiot to drive like that.

The car that I truly did think I'd own one day was simply a wing car. It could've been either a Superbird or a Daytona & wouldn't matter to me. I've liked both ever since I learned what they were as a kid. When I was old enough to drive & get my own car, they were always priced just a little too high to get one. If I had $1500 to spend, the winged cars were double that price. When I was older & the prices leveled off on them, I had just bought my house & couldn't even snag a clean, slant 6, 4 door Dart. By the time I had money to spend on a car, the winged cars were the same price I paid for my house.  ::)

I don't care how much I like, or how much I want a real winged car, there's no way I can spend an insane amount of money on a car that's basically just a toy.

Some intersting answers.  I wasn't thinking of ones you wanted but not thought unattainable so much as ones that you wanted but now wouldn't want even if you hit the lottery.

I think just about any of the big-time 80s exotics are in this category for me.  Contaches, DeLoreans, F40s, etc.  The exclusivity never appealed to me much, but the looks and performance did.

Looking at them now, none of them seem like a huge improvement over just messing with a cheap mid-engined fiberglass kit car.

And all of the above would probably get smoked by a 10yo used Corvette in current real world conditions.

I just have a hard time picturing myself as a Corvette owner.  Principle of the thing.

Good thread...

There was a brief period when I was 16-17 when I was misguidedly obsessed with Acura Integras.

Thank God I somehow set my self straight and didn't go in that direction...

if i hit the lottery huh??
i used to LOVE the tv show Hard Castle and McCormick, the red kit car called Coyote, i thought it was cool since my Dad had owned a RoadRunner and I would have the Coyote, wouldn't give it the time of day now even if i did hit the lottery, would rather have a 30-40's Chrysler Airflow done up with modern internals

I loved the '77? Smokey and the Bandit Trans/Am! The Lambo Countach (Canonn Ball Run ya know!  :2thumbs:) The Batmobile! (especially Tumbler, the "Dark Knight" Batmobile) YUP The Cody Coyote!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Replica-Kit-Makes-Manta-Montage-Manta-Montage-McLaren-M6GT-Hardcastle-McCormick_W0QQitemZ260467412564QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_Cars_Trucks?hash=item3ca5114e54&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245 Just like this one on Ebay now. Of course the General Lee, K.I.T.T. was also a love of mine! :scratchchin: :scratchchin: I love those hard top Vipers also!! Remember when the red Vipers first came out with those  :P yellow wheels? Yuck IMO.

When I was about 5 yrs old our neighbor had a new '71 440 "Cuda, purple with white billboards.
I would sit on my bigwheel and watch him wash it every Saturday, when he got done he would fire it up and idle out of the driveway and then bark the tires as he left.
I always wanted one since and still do but the Chargers are more affordable.

I brought that up to my Mom one day and she told me that it wasn't long after that and he got that car repo'd.

I used to also absolutely love the shape of the 68-82 Corvettes. I had tons of How Wheels of them. I got to ride in an 82 a couple of summers ago and hated it. The shape is still cool but I have no desire to own one. Ditto on the Countach, Bricklin, DeLorean, Testarossa, and just about any other 80s exotic. When I was a kid my three favorite TV shows were BJ and the Bear, Fall Guy, Dukes of Hazzard and Magnum PI. I knew I was gonna be a trucker some day. Things change so I don't see me ever owning a Kenworth (or a monkey) and those old Chevy trucks sure are basic (and everywhere you look). Still love the Charger of course!

When I was a kid I always said I would have a 57 Chevy.  I probably wouldn't mind having one now but I could have had one instead of my cars.  There is way to much Mopar Muscle I would rather own than the 57.  I guess you just get wiser with age :icon_smile_big:

Ohhhhhhhh.  How about a Pantera?  Or a 80's type Trans Am.  I dreamed of a T/A.  Today, I'm cool without one.
