My wife, a military operating room nurse, recently completed her second roto in Afghanistan.
As you can imagine, her views of the scenery were much more graphic. I forwarded your link to her personal email, and I believe she'll enjoy some of those images.

When I was out there last summer, some FBI guys offered to drive us out to the old royal palace. I've always been disappointed I chose not to risk it until I saw the photo of the aftermath of the IED attack. Sucks that there's really only one road from the embassy compound to the airport in Kabul. Makes us kind of predictable.
