All of your shit goes out the door...into somebody else's garage!

I was reading this thread: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,55342.0.html
When it was made mention about a guy named Martin who was quite a collector of Mopar musclecars. Somehow, he passed away, and the collection went south...literally. Most of it crossed the border out of Canada so I've been told.

The moral of the story: get your projects done while you're alive to enjoy them!

Guy spent all of his money buying cars and not the money to fix any of them.

I know a few people that will not sell any of thier cars no matter what.
It does not matter that they will never restore or make any of them road worthy again its just a matter of saying those are mine.

Silver R/T

Quite a collection of Mopars. I don't like guys like that who hoard all the "good stuff" and don't use it themselves and never let anyone else have fun with them

Where was that? I bought these from Ebay a few year ago, he said his uncle collected them but had died. The nephew found them in a three ring binder in the trunk of one of his cars.

Two of them have been matched to their cars so far.

Hey UFO....if your in the Winnipeg area did you know Martin (now deceased)?

If you are talking about the Martin who had a lot of mopar musclecars,I knew of him.Only met him once or twice.

Yes. He was my wifes cousin. He had a huge place north of Winnipeg out in the boonies. I was out there a few times. Last time I was there was about a year before he passed away. Must have been around 30 Mopars ( mainly 2nd Gen Chargers and E-bodies) in a field plus three quonset huts filled with more cars either restored, in the process of being restored or waiting restoration. A couple of Hemi cars, an A12 6 pack car etc etc. He had a 70 R/T Charger 6 pack I was bugging him to sell me. Also had 2 vipers as I recall. He hooked up with a girl for about a year who moved in with him and then he passed away. I tried to get in touch with her but to no avail. No idea what she did with all those cars and parts. He had a huge semi-trailer full of parts....saw quite a few hemi blocks, Dana axles etc etc. Place was a mess but was a Mopar goldmine. I have pictures (non digital) of the place. I couldn't find it again if I tried....was very secluded. Shame really. He had a 340 Cuda that won at Wold of Wheels years and years ago...Red if I recall.

I'll have to see if I can find the address, all I remember for sure is that the nephew's name was Andre.

Edit;

Found it, Hawkesbury, Ontario

That is Martin's place. Or old place I guess. North of Winnipeg.

He was my wifes cousin and I was out at his place 3 or 4 times before he passed away. He was related to Jim Balsillie (The honcho of RIM....Blackberry).

Those pictures are just the cars not restored. There were two other quonset huts.......one was a restoration shop and the other was for restored cars. He had some connection in Montana or North Dakota (I don't recall which) as I understood most of his cars were brought up from the USA across the border into Canada through the same customs entry point. He said the customs guys knew him well.

He had the money to buy the cars and the money to restore them. But he did his own work and I wouldn't say he "worked" alot on the restos. Definitely a collector though.

Dodge Don

I found my old non-digital photos from the last time I was at Martins place. Most of the shots were of a black 70 Charger R/T 440 Six Pack car I wanted to buy off him....hardtop, original FC7, 15" steel wheels with dogdish hubcaps, it was running and he drove it often.

Anyways....in the background in my shots was the silver Cuda with the red billboard. It was on a trailer and he had just brought it in to his property. Had no hood on it then either.

For once its nice to finally see a pile of old mopars where a hoarder had the motivation to store the more valuable cars under cover.

True: None of us own our stuff - if we dont use it up, we're just saving it for the next guy.

I'm glad to see those Mopars are getting put back in to circulation. I think it's a waste to just sit on them like that but at least the more valuable ones were out of the weather, and had a nice protective coating of bird crap on them.

That guy had one helluva collection!!! Hey Robin, could I please use those pictures? :icon_smile_big:

Thats why I don't understand why people fight over their stuff, The parents didn't take it with then and the kids sure as hell wont either. What I have I want to keep nice while I'm here to enjoy it, but once I'm gone people can do whatever they want with it.

Looks like that guy sure had a lot to enjoy while he was here.  :2thumbs:

He and his brother both had a serious medical condition which eventually took both their lives.
My perception was that Mopars were the thing that made him happy and got him through all the other crap that life threw at him.

hopefully where ever they end up they get restored, atleast some of them. :2thumbs:
they'll be alot more old mopars on the road!

Man i'd love to have one of those 69 grilles hanging on his wall!!!

Guess he didnt want to be buried in one. Back in 94 my father was in jacksonville,FL buying a corvette from a Vette dealer and there was an article on the wall about a guy that loved his C4 corvette so much that they buried him in it. Took the engine, trans, etc out. Anything that would leak fluids.
Buckled him in the driver seat, lowered it in the ground and covered them up! What a nut!
