What product to use between roof braces and roof skin?

Hey guys,

getting ready to set the roof on and weld it up this weekend.
I am wondering what product I should use between the roof bracing and the roof skin.  Should I use some kind of urethane? Any reason to use a panel bonding adhesive?

Thanks

I think the plumbers seal is enough and I think that was what it was used... or something similar

That is what AC/heater box gets to seal on bottom area of half housings seams
Venezuelan RT 74 400 4bbl, 727, 8.75 3.23 open. Now stroked with 440 crank and 3.55 SG. Here is the History and how is actually: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,7603.0/all.html

You need permanent flexible sealant for that.  If you use something that shrinks and dries you will see the roof frame through the skin.

Brands like Fusor,SEM,3M,Norton and many others have low expanding urethane foam, it comes in a two-part cartridge. Do not use panel bonding adhesive or anything that will turn solid, because it will restrict the movement of the skin when it gets cold or hot resulting in traces showing on surface :Twocents:

Is there a product that I can get at a Walmart, or auto parts store... that doesn't require ordering?

Any local autobody supply store should have it in stock.

How about the soft grey foam weather strip like for sealing doors at home?  :scratchchin: Here is what I run into, these systems that use cartridges need a gun. Some suppliers have a loaner gun but most of the time it's "get in line" then wait. So there is two trips for an hour of injecting. Next thing is I've had terrible luck ordering/buying products, they are outdated old stock. I'm up to 17 cans/cartridges of various outdated automotive product in less than a year. My local supplier handed me a can of "All Metal" that under the top 3/4 of an inch of putty was hard just this Saturday. I started buying from them just to get fresh inventory!  :eek2:

I would be a bit hesitant to use the foam.  If it loses its flexibility and turns hard, it may end up showing through the roof skin.

If however you can find a good foam that stays supple then it should work.  You klnow those self stick roofing kinda things you stick to panels?  They do the same thing, stop vibration, and they 'should' not show through but then again I've only stuck 'em on doors, never a roof that would cook in the Florida sun.  If you find sealer with a recent date then I'd go for that.  The gun should be cheap, any double cartridge gun works, get the cheap harbor freight one, it'll work fine.

I returned my "17th outdated product" today and had a nice talk with my local supplier. He's working with me on some stuff like getting Evercoat Quantum cartridges without me paying first so when it comes in I can call and verify the date codes. So now there is hope where there was none and if it works out I can just use the correct crap.  :2thumbs:

Just an FYI for everyone. I used this product yesterday when I put the roof on and it seemed to work great. One cartridge was just enough for the 3 roof supports.
